The Stopover (The Miles High Club, #1) by T.L. Swan
Rating (1-5) 3.75⭐⭐⭐💫
Review: I wanted this to be 4 stars, and it could have been. For over 500 pages I gobbled this up in less than a day. The spice is there, and I do want to continue with the other Miles Brothers and their stories. This had spice, sexy CEOs, and an underlying mystery thread that was engaging enough to follow along with. It is on kindle unlimited with free audio companion which is great to binge to and I love dual POV narrators📙🎧 . The only thing that really turned me off was the arguing and bickering between the main characters, Jameson and Emily. They say some pretty mean things to each other and do not act like adults.

Rating (1-5) 3.5⭐⭐⭐💫
Review: This is a super "cozy read" and it was great for fall! This is not a high fantasy book by any means with little world building. It is literally about an Orc who "retires" and opens a coffee shop.☕🥯🧁 (perfect for this challenge too!) I read one review that said "it was like reading about someone playing Diner Dash and leveling up their restaurant" and I have to agree. It was a cute, cozy read and I would recommend it to people looking for a nice palate cleanser in between their high fantasy genre reads or just looking for a quick feel good book with low drama in a fun, fanciful world. ⚔️🏰🍄

Review - I really struggled with enjoying this book. At the beginning, I thought I was going to end up loving it but the writing and the story line were very cringey. The author reused styles of dialogue for different characters, those types of missteps really throw me off. I can’t enjoy the book if I feel like the author didn’t put enough thought into the characters and they all talk the same and say the same cringey things. I need character development.

Review/Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Lady Jane Gray, nine days a queen after Henry VIII in England, but cast as a Royal shifter. If I were 14 or 15, I would have given this 4.5 ⭐️. In places it was clever and funny, in other places it was just silly. King Edward as a bird, Queen Jane as a ferret, her husband Lord Dudley shifts to be a horse.

Review: What a wild ride for this book. Not sure I would have thought this was going to be the way Famine would end but as usual the horsemen start out as being jerks but I have to say Famine as a real pain. Not that Ana wasn't but she definitely didn't take shit from him. She was too good hearted as well. Which is fun y because she didn't have the easiest life. I so can't wait to see what's going to happen in the next book since this didn't end on good terms. Lol

Review: YUP. Totally worth the hype and I LOVED the hell outta this book. I held off reading this until closer until Iron Flame was coming out so that I would not have the waiting period and book hangover everyone experienced. I can't stop thinking about this book, and that is obviously how I know I loved it and it is a top 2023 read. Read it in just about one sitting with the help of audible and no sleep!🐲🐉🐲 I am honestly thinking about re-reading this ALREADY to go back into all the details I missed.

Review:
Wow! This book is nothing like I was thinking it would be, and it was simply amazing! Sadly, Dillon is a cheater and abuser. He takes not culpability for his wrong-doings. But he, Gavin, and Emily are involved in a triangle and Dillon somehow paints Gavin as the bad guy that he is NOT. What's so sad is that Emily, like far too many females, doesn't see that Dillon isn't giving her what she truly deserves and that he treats her terribly. Somehow it's all her fault and she accepts that. He manipulates her feelings since he helped her through the loss of her mother so she feels committed to him for that. Gavin is most definitely the better man, but Emily needed to see that...but did she? Things don't always turn out how we want them to!

Review:
This was another unexpected book/plot that I hadn't even dreamed of...I mean killer mermaids? lol Not what I've ever thought about beautiful mermaids, except perhaps the sirens. These mermaids are creepy and like aliens, and I like human flesh...so gross.

Tori Stewart is the marine biologist who has a sister, Ann, who she wants to avenge. She was on the Atargatis, now a ghost ship, when things went awry in the worst way. Actually, there are a lot of characters: Olivia Sanderson a reporter, her cameraman Ray, Dr. Toth, a sirenologist and more, so the story is quite complex in many ways. And if you need a deaf person for a challenge, there are twin deaf scientists.

Book: Saved by the Rancher

Review:

Let me start by saying that there is violence against females in this book, and it is very realistic and could be triggering for anyone who's been through rape and/or domestic violence.

I love the cover but any cover with a dog on it usually grabs my attention. To be honest, I ONLY read this book because I needed a book that had 95 in the page count intact, and I looked for over two hours. Once I saw that this one fit this challenge and a couple more it was a no-brainer. lol

Jenna married a man named David who ended up being very abusive. He was extremely wealthy and when she dealt with his abuse and told others, they either truly didn't believe her or just looked the other way due to his status. She eventually divorced him but he had his ways of stalking her and finding her only to commit more violence on her.

One day someone gives her a "hideaway" on a ranch with a man named Jack, and their relationship moves a bit (to me) unrealistically fast for a woman who's just experienced all that Jenna has.

Overall, there were some things that didn't ring true, such as my above paragraph, but overall I thought it was really good.

Review - Just like the other series I just read, I loved the other two books in front of this book and I loved this book also. The only thing I didn’t really like about this book was that it was too “academia”. At the end of the book the author puts in her notes that she thought she may have gone too far into the academia setting and I can agree with that. Although, I do agree that there is a place for it. Did I understand all of her PHD, scientific terms? No, I did not. But I loved the plot, the dilemma, the story line, all the same.

Teammate Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is the 4th or 5th book series I have done about little, friendly witch-centric towns. I'm ready to move there. They are little Mayberry-type towns. Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5. I leaned toward a higher rating to get people to try this interactive book. You pick options at the end of chapters to construct different narratives. That being said, that model isn't fully actualuzed. The story sets families fleeing a pandemic on a cruise ship in San Francisco Bay. In full disclosure, my opinions may e warped. In May 2022, I caught covid on a cruise ship and I (and my spouse) were confined to our cruise cabin for 14 days, before 14 days of medical quarantine in a quarantine hotel in the UK. It was not fun.

Sloane and Gunner, who would have thought these two would become a source of learning experience. Both with some major walls placed from what they've been through can make for some tough people.
