📝 Review ✍🏽: This was a very long, but super sweet monster romance. Opal wrote about trauma, depression and the fmc self-image as a plus size girl, in a light sort of way that didn't make it depressing at all. Our monster is equally sweet, cute and feral, It was great following him learning and gaining more humanity.

📝 Review ✍🏽: LOVE LOVE LOVE IT ALL - Dexter was my first serial killer love but this couple is my second. The banter, tension and all the gory unaliving are great. This is hilarious too and when the deed is finally done it is 💥 WOW! If you are into dark, hilarious romance go for this one. The audiobook is fantastic, it's a duet 😍💖

Credence
Credence by Penelope Douglas

Rating (4)⭐⭐⭐⭐
Review: This books get a lot of hype and I understand why! This was pretty spicy and slightly taboo-ish (step family). After Tiernan's parents die she is not yet 18 so she must go live with her step-uncle in Colorado. Being a CO native myself, I knew this was a book I wanted to read. Being "on the mountain" was definitely an ongoing theme for the book and made the characters' trials and experiences that much more interesting. There is some element of country mouse vs city mouse going on since Tiernan is the daughter of mega LA superstars and the boys are outdoorsy/motocross studs. This was my first Penelope Douglas book and I have a few on my TBR so I am interested in reading more by her. Overall a solid above average 4 star read. The audible version is pretty good too with a few dual narrator portions.

The Takeover (Miles High Club #2) by T.L. Swan
Read: 11/27/23
Rated: 5 stars
Review: Takeover anytime!
What a sweet, sad and hilarious story. Tristan may have been the ruthless brother but he's definitely the sexy, hot and kind hearted man with a mean streak when it comes to protecting what's his. This was so much fun to read. There were times I laughed so hard and felt sadness as well for those moments when just couldn't help it. I can't wait to see who's next with these brothers but hopefully there's more with Claire, Tristan and the boys.

Watcher in the Woods (Rockton, #4) by Kelley Armstrong
Book: Watcher in the Woods
Author: Kelley Armstrong
Rating: 4 stars
Read: 11/30/23

Review:
I just love Jennifer Armentrout and she is the author who opened my eyes to sci-fi and got me out of my box. I can't say that I love hard-core sci-fi, but her type I do! In this one we meet Alice, Casey's sister. In previous books we learn that they have a rather strained relationship so I was curious to read more about their relationship. Plus, I found myself really loving the relationship between Eric and Casey and the other characters who live in Rockton. Of course, more is revealed about the town and its residents, so I loved that. As I'd expected from one of my favorite authors, Kelley Armstrong creates suspense and gives those twists that I love! Can't wait to read the next one!

The Do-Over (Miles High Club #4) by T.L. Swan

Rating (3) ⭐⭐⭐
Review: This was my least favorite of the 4. Christopher was just sort of an idiot with some of the decisions. I do love that in all of the books there is at least one scene that will crack me up and in this one I had tears rolling down my cheeks in the grocery store parking lot because of a mascot. IYKYK. I think Hayden was too forgiving of him and gave him a lot of passes and not always stand up for herself. This was a good conclusion into the "Happily Ever After" epilogues but as I mentioned, my least favorite of the series. I DID love the cross over though of all the other boys from other series like Julian Masters.

Book: Almost Like Being in Love
Author: Sariah Wilson
Read: 12/8
Rating: 3

Review:
I absolutely hate giving a low rating to a book, but this one held high hopes for me but it just didn't cut it. :(

Maren Kelly and her mother have plans to go to Scotland during Christmas, but sadly her mother was diagnosed with a deadly illness; however, her mother insists that she goes to Scotland to look for her (the mother's) brother whom she hasn't seen in 25 years. Maren finally agrees to go and takes her good friend, Penny. Maren's mother insists that things will be magical and she could even find a man and fall in love...OK, that part was all just fine but for me it went downhill from there. Talk about INST-LOVE and insta-everything else! It was just too much, too quick, with every single thing. Naturally Maren sees a man, Duncan Campbell, who is the 101% epitome of the finest specimen of a male and he's as perfect as perfect can be in every way. But he is in Scotland, year 1647. They fall in love and Maren does her best not to do touchy-feely things that might be offensive or even illegal in the 1600's. She finds her uncle in the most unexpected way...that being said I don't want to say more. But it was just over the top silly for me.

3 isn't a low score at all. 2 and 1 are bad, means the book was garbage (at least for the person reading). But, the way I see it, 3 the book was ok, good but nothing special about it; 4 the book is really good and 5 is exceptional (at least to me).

1 would be I just couldn't stomach it; 2 is it was okay but didn't truly like it much; 3 I did like it but didn't love it; 4 I liked it a lot/close to loving it; 5 I loved it!!

I have a hard time giving 1 or 2. If you ever look at my annual challenge you might see 1 or 2 2's but probably no 1's. It's rare I give a 1 and pretty unusual to give a 2. I think a lot of the time I am too generous.
