We've already put your first word into spreadsheet, so yes, it's apricot for this team. Also in spreadsheet you can see color cheat-sheet, so apricot means you need to read orange cover for bonus points.

Since we are only looking at finish date for books, so you can start reading already as long as you don't finish it before start of the challenge.

And don't forget, you can use title, author, series and characters (as long as they are actually in the book not just mentioned), so P&P will have more then just P for spelling (I can think of A and C without checking a book) :)

Hi Team!

I'm just checking in. I'm trying to pick my list for this week so I will provide that update later today. I'm pretty sure I have quite a few orange books if needed & some over 500+ pages that would fit (for double points). The only thing I'm not too interested in doing are the discussion questions for extra points.

message 7: by [deleted user] (last edited Mar 22, 2015 01:18PM) (new)

Update:

I'm reading several books currently but need to parse out all the letters that can possibly be used and should have that done by 3/22. I will update this post as I go along:

We Were Liars (so far, can be used for P, C, T & maybe A)
My Sunshine Away (so far, can be used for: A, P, R, C, & maybe O)
In the Woods (so far, can be used for A, R, I, C, O & T)

Amanda (daughterofoak) | 3473 comments Hey everyone!

I'll be your mod mentor for this challenge, so let me know if you have questions or need any help with anything.
I'll be dropping by often but you can also find me in the Tiger's Eye thread.

message 9: by Bronia (new)

Bronia Okay I think I get this challenge but correct me if I'm wrong! Will be reading
Timestorm (Tempest, #3) by Julie Cross for T
The Horse Whisperer by Nicholas Evans for A (character Annie)

do we only get the additional 30 points for the book cover once? so does only one person have to read an orange book or do we get 30 points for each person that does it?
also I'm really not a fan of writing discussion questions so if someone else wants to do that?

do we only get ..."

Yes, that's exactly right. You can also use the first letter of a series name (Magic Bites-Kate Daniels #1 for K).

The additional 30 points is only once per week. So even if you and Elle both read a book with an orange cover your team can still only claim 30 points for them.

Jenna Welcome to the team Erica :)

message 16: by Jenna (new)

Jenna Cristina, are you going to be able to read all those books by next Sunday? You listed 7 books. Michelle, you listed 3 books.

message 17: by Jenna (new)

Jenna Marie, you listed the one book. Bronia, you listed two books and one of them being the orange cover for the team. Elle, you listed 3 books. Jeimmy hasn't checked in yet. I am planning to start Snow like Ashes (BOM and can be R because of the authors last name) tonight and I'm finishing up The Vault which has many options for letters via character names. Can everyone check back in and verify that they understand the books they have listed are for this week? We can juggle things around next weekend to rearrange if we have to

message 18: by Jenna (new)

Jenna I have done a ro

message 19: by Jenna (new)

Jenna oops sorry about that the box closed on me before I was done. I was saying I have done a rough draft of the spreadsheet based on what everyone listed. I will adjust that through the week based on what everyone tells me in the forum. We have spelled apricot twice so far and that is without Erica, Jeimmy and my books. I read a book or two a day so I will try to read whatever is needed to fill gaps through challenge.

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

Jenna wrote: "Elle, you listed 3 books."

Jenn, I tried to organize things the best I could. My three books will be done by Monday so I can add more before the weeks out. Here's the breakdown thus far:

17 total books listed: (you can see the link to a tracking google spreadsheet in my earlier post)

A - 10 books to use
P - 5 books to use
R - 6 books to use
I - 3 books to use
C - 10 books to use
O - 5 books to use
T - 8 books to use

So far, we are 4 books shy of spelling our color 3 times.

message 21: by Jenna (new)

Jenna Thanks for clearing up what books you were planning to use. I mistakingly assumed that you just put a link to your to-read list. I was given access to the spreadsheet that I have to update and turn in weekly and the captains forum by Amanda. But its good to see all the options of where to use what books so the finished product has the most points as possible. I like how you setup the layout it will be helpful so thanks for contributing. :)

Cristina (andcris) Jenna wrote: "Cristina, are you going to be able to read all those books by next Sunday? You listed 7 books. Michelle, you listed 3 books."

No, I probably won't,sorry, I don't know what I was thinking :D. I'll just stick with these 3:
A clash of Kings
Ruin And Rising
The Death Cure

message 24: by Bronia (new)

Bronia I will have timestorm finished today so I will probably have time to do more books, what letters do we need?

message 25: by Jenna (new)

Jenna I'll update the list Cristina and I'm sure that we can still reach at least three spellings of apricot. Bronia, we definitely need another letter I. We only have two of them but we could use all of the letters atleast once more.

message 26: by [deleted user] (last edited Mar 22, 2015 07:22AM) (new)

Will also be finishing up:

The Twelve (which can be used for A, P, R, C, O & T) - bonus pts for being 568 pgs.

The Light Between Oceans (which can be used for A, P, R, I, C & T)

I have several other books I need to finish up before the end of the month so they will probably apply to this challenge but I won't know more until Monday.

message 27: by Bronia (last edited Mar 22, 2015 10:37AM) (new)

Bronia Timestorm is finished, starting the horse whisperer now, will try and get The Iron King read then, its a re-read but those are allowed arent they?

Yes, I had to check that myself earlier.

Amanda (daughterofoak) | 3473 comments Bronia wrote: "Just to double check the challenge did start today didn't it? so me finishing timestorm will contribute?"

Yes, the challenge started on the 22nd at 12pm Sydney time.
In some time zones that is earlier. In my time zone (West coast US) the challenge started on Saturday at 6pm.

I have some questions regarding the spreadsheet.
① Do we have to modify it as we comment here what have we read? Or at the end of the week?
② Will we modify it? Or will a moderator check and modify it?

Thank you team and keep the hard work! :)

message 42: by Jenna (new)

Jenna I'm going through the spreadsheet right now and updating what everyone has posted the last couple days. I have a copy that I'm using as a rough draft and I added a few columns to it I liked from Elle's spreadsheet. The extra columns list all the letter options for each books so that things can be moved around with ease if needed. I was given access to the spreadsheet that we need to turn in on Sunday because I'm the team captian. As soon as a have a moment of time I will upload this spreadsheet I'm keeping so that I can share it with everyone. I've just had a couple busy days and haven't had time to do much updating. I did plently of reading though... I have insomnia so I always read a lot at night plus I use tts at work. I will post an update as soon as I can to let you guys know where we are and what letters we still need to work on. I wish everyone a great monday... I can't wait for Friday. :)

Jenna Erica, I will get those added to the spreadsheet tonight when I am able to work on it again. I have been more busy this week then I expected so I will be working tonight to get caught up on my spreadsheet. I apologize for getting behind. This is what I've done so far https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/... I didn't expect it to be so much work to research each book to find out what letters it can be used for. Please fix any issues you find and feel free to alter anything you think will work more smoothly.

Bronia I tried to have a look but it says we need access? I clicked request access not sure if thats what I was supposed to do? Also thanks for all your work!!

Do we have to write reviews for all our read books? If so, before the posting deadline?

message 50: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (daughterofoak) | 3473 comments Elle wrote: "Do we have to write reviews for all our read books? If so, before the posting deadline?"

No, you don't have to write any reviews. Just make sure the book is marked read and can be found on your wheelathon shelf.
