Silje (sikna) | 1443 comments I just started listening to Kindred in Death. The default version has over 450 pages, which is a bit more than the rest of the editions and more pages than I would expect from 13-14hours listening time. Shall I still use it?

The default is a paperback and not large print, so yes you would still use that page count. I can also check the ISBN to make sure that is correct and that it isn’t a special edition with additional material etc.

Edit - I have updated page count based on Amazon and world cat data to 384 pages

Morning team!
I’m now halfway through my holiday and about half the group is leaving today which is a bit sad, but there are still 4 families including us here. We’ve been to a few beaches and also a toboggan park which the kids loved (and I even gave it a go 😂). Today we are checking out an aviation museum and tomorrow a sting Ray/shark place where you can swim, feed and touch the rays and sharks which should be great.

We’ve also finished our first spell it out of synthesizer- exciting! Although would have been easier if we used the UK spelling as synthesiser (S is so much easier to find) 😂😂
Hope you are all having a great week

Keely (kiwifruit192) | 1813 comments It just hit midnight here in the UK. I'm on my first break at work.

I finished my first book earlier and I've started my second. The second might take me a bit longer to finish as despite it being short in pages than the first, the audio book is longer. I hope to get it done before my days off on Thursday.

message 107: by Keely (new)

Keely (kiwifruit192) | 1813 comments After having a quick look at the spreadsheet, we have one white book finished and 4 more claimed which means we are good for the white covers.
For instruments, we already have 7 finished books with instruments in! And we have over what we need remaining claimed! Which means we don't really need to worry about instruments, but keep an eye out just in case.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments Great going Team Rock.

I think the letters Y and Z are trickier than finding the colour or the instruments. But I'm sure we'll get them covered.

Nice. We used to drive up to Kempsey visiting in-laws but never stopped in that area.

Louise | 3331 comments Good Morning all. @Karen sounds like you are having a fab time. I would love to swim with sharks, there’s something a bit magical about them.

Finished my second audio yesterday didn’t have opportunity to add it anywhere. Hoping to knock out a couple of audios today and tomorrow 🤞

I would go to soldiers bay as our family holiday once a year (over 20 years ago!!) it is a beautiful spot and I would like to now come more often

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments It is lovely part of the world. I went to Nelson Bay for the first time in over 30 years last year and couldn't believe how it had changed. Still a great place to holiday.

I've had it once and actually thought it was a bad cold. Only tested because I was going to be spending time in a large group of people.

Feel better Silje.

Bernadette (bernadettedaniel) | 898 comments I have to remember to enter dates on the SS as MM/DD instead of DD/MM like I usually do🤦🏻‍♀️- if you see weird dates, please fix them.😉

message 125: by Keely (new)

Keely (kiwifruit192) | 1813 comments I've gotten into the habit of putting the month as a shortened version of the word, that way it is harder to confused. So regardless of if it shows up at 12 Oct or Oct 12, people can easily see the what the month is supposed to be.

But as each round is only 2 weeks, I'm sure we will know the 10 in the date is the month.

message 126: by Keely (new)

Keely (kiwifruit192) | 1813 comments I might give up on Ivanhoe. I'm not enjoying it and it is a long time to listen to something I'm not enjoying. I started listening to Men at Arms by Terry Pratchett instead as it was ready to read and I didn't have time to search for a better fitting book as I'm at work.

If have a couple of days off after tonight so I will look for better suited books to listen to on my next lot of shifts.

Keely (kiwifruit192) | 1813 comments My WiFi at home has decided to break. The provider is sending out an engineer, but it won't be until Saturday. The most annoying thing is that I am now on my days off and will be back ar work Saturday night.

Luckily, I have several audio books and many ebooks downloaded on my ipad. I do also have phone data I can use to download more if I need to, but that is limited.

To the best of my knowledge I haven't had it either. That's despite somone in my household having had it twice and hugging a friend who texted me the next morning to say they were positive (they'd symptoms when I was with them, including a lot of coughing).
Think I've been very lucky!

message 130: by Fiona (new)

Fiona | 902 comments My parents had it once and my sister even twice but tbf I don’t live with either of them (I actually moved to the other end of the country last year) and I’m only ever at work or at home reading, I don’t do anything else. I used to go out and meet up with friends etc but ever since Covid started that completely turned around and now I’m just very happy to be alone.

We are packing up and heading home today. This week has gone quickly in many ways!

Our s/sheet is up to date and we have now claimed the 10 instrument bonuses - well done team! and 4/5 white books are read

I'm not really enjoying Our Missing Hearts but will keep going. I enjoyed the other book I read by Celeste Ng but this is very slow and doesn't have much of a plot. I'm finding it quite repetitive too. Anyone else read it?

I read Our Missing Hearts last year - it was 5🌟 for me.

Vikki (silverstarz) | 1278 comments Can anyone add my edition of this book: Witch Hunt

If you search on Amazon UK it comes up with the right one, a house in the middle, fence with a bird on, ivy and roses around the edge. Paperback

Keely (kiwifruit192) | 1813 comments I still have no internet. The engineer that came to fix it today said it was to do with the phone line which is a different company. They won't be able to come until Wednesday. At least my work has wifi.

If you can let me know the ASIN or link it from Amazon here I can have a look (Amazon defaults me to australia so I can’t search other countries without that info)

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments Unfortunately we didn't get picked for DQ's for How to Sell a Haunted House by Grady Hendrix but I am looking forward to reading it.

Anyone participating in this BOM the official page count is 433 pages. 😊

message 142: by Keely (new)

Keely (kiwifruit192) | 1813 comments I will definitely be reading it, but will probably not be able to stick to the schedule

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments Hey Team Rock,

We're all powering on despite a few tricky letters.

Captains, I'll have time left to do a short "Y" book.. do we need it or should I save if for another round?

message 144: by Elisabeth (new)

Elisabeth Rose (elisabethrose) | 816 comments I'll finish my Z book today probably. Y looks the most needed letter for our last few days so I'll look for that for my next read.

message 145: by Keely (new)

Keely (kiwifruit192) | 1813 comments I am very sorry team. Work has been super stressful and having no internet at home has really thrown me off as well. I've done hardly any reading for almost a week.
I definitely want to finish one of my books on the ss, but may not be able to finish the other in time. And I don't think I will be getting the BOM done this round, but that may be a good thing because it didn't really seem to fit in with our letters.

message 146: by Elisabeth (new)

Elisabeth Rose (elisabethrose) | 816 comments I think we got a tough one this time. Not much letter variety and Y and Z.

message 147: by Elisabeth (new)

Elisabeth Rose (elisabethrose) | 816 comments Don't worry Keely, everyone knows stuff happens that messes up the best laid plans. I've read a couple more books than expected so that might help balance the count.
