I finished
The Last Devil to Die (Thursday Murder Club, #4) by Richard Osman
which was a great addition to the series! And it works for every letter in Digeridoo which is a bit exciting ;) Too bad it isn't a green cover based in one of our locations lol

I really want to start this series.. After I finish Cormoran Strike.. I think I'm in love, LOL

These are much faster (and happier) reads than Cormoran!
Did you watch the TV series? So well done

I can't wait to read this one! I read the other ones in German though, so I have to wait for the German translation which takes sooooo long

I read the third one in round 1. I think they're getting better and better. So much fun. I can hear Richard Osman's voice as I read. Such dry wit.

Maybe you could do both? ;)
This book really deepens the characters

Yes, his humour and also experience as a TV writer really comes through.
I love the interviews at the end of the books with him too (on audio at least) where he talks about the writing process and the characters

I’ve read all of these upto now all on audio. Richard Osman’s interviews at the end really adds an extra dimension to the book. I would normally skip this bit in a paperback.

I finished
Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1) by Ilona Andrews
which is my 3rd read of this book (unusual for me!). Having finished the series recently I just really wanted to go back to where it all began. Love Kate.

Happy Friday!

Which means it has been a week since my foot operation. Just 6 more days until stitches come out. Yay!

We have completed THREE spell it outs of Didgeridoo. Great work team! And Cats just finished a 1000+ page book. Amazing.

we have also completed 6/10 green covers and 6/10 initial locations

I'm currently reading my Havana book which is interesting as I really know very little about Cuba and this book follows two time lines - one with a family having to escape in 1958 ; and then 2 generations later their granddaughter in 2017 travelling to Havana for the first time.
I'll start looking for other unique locations I can cover :)

Keely (kiwifruit192) | 1813 comments I found a book in Tokyo that I can probably get done tonight. It's pretty short but it will help cross another location off the list.

Keely (kiwifruit192) | 1813 comments I finished my Tokyo book so we are now up to 7/10 inital locations and Cats completed another green so we are also up to 7/10 Green Covers!

I finished my Havana book, and Lisa finished her Sydney one, so we now have 9/10 initial locations done! One more unique one and then we can start to double/triple up :)

Marie-Anne | 224 comments I just finished Except the Dying set in historical Toronto Canada. I may not finish The Paris Package for this challenge, as it does not seem to stay in one city for 50+ %. Letters are also not very helpful so far. Looking for other options.

message 279: by Keely (new)

Keely (kiwifruit192) | 1813 comments Do we still need another Green? I have one ready to read that will definitely give us and E but I'm not sure about any other letters.

I've not been able to read at all this weekend because of work. I'm not sure if mentioned it, but I work in a supermarket restocking shelves which sounds easy enough but when you are understaffed it's hard to put all the stock out so you end up trying to play catch up all the time. And it's only going to get worse as Christmas approaches. Hopefully they will hire more people by then.
So while I can listen to audio books while I work, most of the time I find myself stressing about how much I have to do and then not paying attention to the book.
I'm down to 4 nights now so I will have more time on my days off to catch up on reading.

There are 9 green books on the tracking sheet, so yes still room for another to be claimed :)

That does sound stressful coming into this time of year. I hope you get more staff soon!!

I finished my Seoul book. What a ride.
If I Had Your Face by Frances Cha
Give it a read if you enjoy character driven novels and a very different setting!!

I've started a new audio which I think is mostly set in Melbourne

Elisabeth Rose (elisabethrose) | 816 comments Green cover finished, halfway through my Havana book which is quite short, so should manage the longer Berlin book in time. Phew! Good reads though. Really liked I, Robot and Our Man in Havana is a classic for a reason. Wormold, the vacuum cleaner salesman recruited as a spy with no idea what he’s supposed to report on so makes exciting things up. Very funny.

I remember doing that book in year 10 English. Too many moons ago to count.. 😊 Amazing how those classics stand up through the generations.. probably why they are considered classics!

Oh poor you, Fiona. Covid just won't give up! My daughter in law had it for the second time two weeks ago but not too badly. Apparently it's rampaging around Sydney again.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments Yes, unfortuately I think Covid will be around forever now. And for the vulnerable and us oldies it will be a shot each year the same as flu.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments Boo, didn't get picked for the BOM DQ's.. it's a lot harder now as more people obviously want to participate when Challenges are on. I'll hold out hope for the next one in a fortnight.

I'll still be reading for the 20 points, but won't finish till Round 3 - hopefully the letters match.

I had my stitches out today, big step (pun intended!).
My foot looks revolting but surgeon said it is "perfect" haha

Anyway, still with elevation, but now ice packs as I can get it wet (hooray) and a moon boot to help me get out and about. So happy to be out of the house for the first time in 2 weeks!!!
Next check-in is in another 4 weeks for x-ray and surgeon consult

Lisa- I went to Garcon @ Lane Cove Canopy for brunch on the way back from the hospital. It was really nice!!
