Elisabeth Rose (elisabethrose) | 816 comments Baroque will probably pop up most because it refers to architecture, style and design as well, being an era.

Can't say the same for some of those others!

Keely wrote: "The rules just say only one bonus word per book. Nothing about finding the same word in multiple book"

We do need to find 10 different genres though so that means not duplicating. Unless of course we get the bonus with the team tiers again like we had with locations

Keely (kiwifruit192) | 1813 comments Oh, sorry. I guess I missed that bit of information the first few times I read it. I had to check AGAIN to finally notice it. Sorry for the confusion.

Lisa - if you don't mind holding off on yours. I spent an audible credit on mine and as it is over 900 pages it will be good points. Like Karen said, we might get to have to bonus with team tiers again.

No problem. Lots of other options for me to check out.

Keely (kiwifruit192) | 1813 comments My library app has XOXO by Axie Oh which 40 people have tagged as K-pop so hopefully the word is mentioned at least once.
I've borrowed it but I will focus on the Baroque book first and if no one else has claimed K-pop once I've finished it then I will read it (or if we get to read extra with the tier bonuses).

We need 10 different ones by the looks.

I’ll read Four to Score (Stephanie Plum, #4) by Janet Evanovich for grunge

Fiona | 902 comments Little update from my side:
Life keeps throwing curveballs at me. Work is incredibly busy as we are only a team of 8 people and 3 are currently on leave, one is sick and one just told me he quit, so I'm pretty much running the content as well as the shipping department right now.
I also have to take acne meds and they are currently kind of dissolving my hand and what is the worst thing of all, they make me depressed so I'm not in the best mood for reading. I will try my best to finish the two books I'm currently reading until tomorrow evening and I'm sorry for letting you guys down so much.
Also, I'm pretty bummed because my mom got the diagnosis yesterday that she has rheumatic arthritis in almost every joint in her body and it was really upsetting to see her cry.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments Sorry to hear that Fiona. Hope things improve for you and your family soon.

I'll grab MAMBO Haunted (Harrison Investigation, #1) by Heather Graham

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments So I'm assuming for words like Spiritual and Salsa.. the word has to be used in a musical context only?

message 411: by Elisabeth (last edited Nov 17, 2023 01:44AM) (new)

Elisabeth Rose (elisabethrose) | 816 comments I can get Salsa With Me by Roni Denholtz for Salsa.

It doesn’t.
I wondered the same but under the spoiler it addresses it. So context doesn’t matter which is nice 😊

Round 3 update

We just completed our 6th spell-it-out of the word. yay!

All blue covers are read, we still have some room for more instruments on covers.

With 20 hours to go if you are still intending to finish a book by the deadline please let us know.

We have a teeeeeeny window when the round ends to update the spreadsheets so best to have them in and read well ahead of time

message 416: by Elisabeth (new)

Elisabeth Rose (elisabethrose) | 816 comments Yay team! I’m finished for this round.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments I just added my last book. Onto Round 4!

message 418: by Keely (new)

Keely (kiwifruit192) | 1813 comments I just finished my last book for round 3 as well.

Also, well done team! We have already found books that have 7/10 of the genres we need and the round hasn't even started!

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments What do you know.. the BOM has bluegrass in it. The Violin Conspiracy by Brendan Slocumb

Captains, I'll use bluegrass in it.. and keep the other book which I also found bluegrass in (what are the odds..) on the spreadsheet and will read it if the number of words we need opens up later on in the round and we can have duplications.

Catsalive | 423 comments Is it too late to post? My last one could have gone either way by a few minutes as I wasn't watching the clock, so it can go in R4 if I've missed R3.

It will need to be R4 as round 3 closed about 1.5 hours before you posted it (daylight savings on/off can impact the time in different zones!) ;)
I have moved it to the R4 tracking tab if you can add in the letters. Thanks!

Done. Pity about the I but it does have spiritual.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments The BOM is the gift that keeps on giving. Just found another tricky word within - merengue! Means bluegrass can be returned to my other book.

The Violin Conspiracy by Brendan Slocumb is quite an interesting read, if anyone is thinking of giving it a try. Good story and quite thought provoking.

Extra bonuses for this round have been announced :)

We have no colour cover caps and no limits on genres subject to having 10 different unique genres in text.

So time to start reading as many blue covered books as possible and keep looking out for those genre words! As long as we have 10 unique ones we aren't limited on how many we can then find

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments Oh that's very handy. We are already up to 8-9 individual genres. And Blues probably the easiest colour!

Elisabeth Rose (elisabethrose) | 816 comments Caught by Harlan Coben What do you think about this? Blue? Tineye says it's predominantly grey.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments I've got this one too Sea State (Castleby Series #1) by J.M. Simpson .

Tineye also says grey but it looks blue to me.

Super lucky with blue as the cover!! Seeing how many we found so easily last round and couldn't use them all

I think there is a bit too much white, which may be that given the snow my brain is clocking it as white, but it does seem short

Only the kindle. I'll leave it off for now and see if I can find a tineye friendly bluey.

;)

message 446: by Keely (new)

Keely (kiwifruit192) | 1813 comments I have yet to finish a book this round but I have 2 on the go, one of which is that long one. Both should get finished this week. I've got some blue books lined up after along with that K-pop book.

I've got a stall at a local craft fair on Saturday so I'll be spending my days off getting the last of my stock together which will include listening to audiobooks.

message 447: by Elisabeth (new)

Elisabeth Rose (elisabethrose) | 816 comments What sort of crafting is your stall?

message 448: by Keely (new)

Keely (kiwifruit192) | 1813 comments I do a mixture of crafts. Mostly knitting and cross stitch. A bit of diamond painting too.
This will be my third time having a stall so I'm still pretty new to it, but if I kept everything I made I would have too much stuff!

message 449: by Elisabeth (new)

Elisabeth Rose (elisabethrose) | 816 comments Sounds great! Knitting has become very popular again. I used to knit jumpers for the kids when they were little but haven't done anything for decades.
My daughter In law knits and sews merchandise for the kids band she and my son are in. They're called The Vegetable Plot so she knits beanies, cute stuffed veggies and makes tote bags, aprons and pencil cases out of veggie print fabric. She loves it and gets together with other crafty friends and neighbours for sessions.

Keely (kiwifruit192) | 1813 comments I had always wanted to learn but got put off at a young age when a cousin tried to teach me, she tried to adapt it because I'm left handed and then an aunt took apart what I had done because it wasn't right but wouldn't help me learn how to fix it so I got so upset.
My boyfriend's mum and grandma both knit (knitting seems to be very popular in Norway) and my boyfriend or his siblings don't seem interested in learning so it inspired me to carry on the tradition. I taught myself through YouTube videos. I'm not really interested in knitting clothing though. I like to make decorative stuff . My favourite thing to knit (and one of my most popular items) is tiny Christmas stockings that can be hung on the Christmas tree. I've been enjoying cross stitch more this year though.
