Neil is 82 and last released a studio album in 2020, and retired from performing live in 2018 because of his Parkinson's disease diagnosis.

Linton Kwesi Johnson is 71 and Lemmy was 70 when he died.

Regarding Lemmy, although he died at 70, as far as I'm aware he was still recording music up until his death. If it's not allowed, I'll replace this nomination.

I was thinking of some of the artists chosen that I've been lucky enough to see in person and realise that now I'm in my 70s, it seems I especially appreciate their offerings. This year I have seen swamp pop artist Tommy McLain at 83 and coming up:
Oct 13: Asleep At The Wheel - Ray Benson & Lucky Oceans both 72
Oct 21: Paul McCartney now 81, saw him in 2017, aged 75, and he was sensational
Oct 26: Sparks - Ron now 78 & Russell 74

I thought long and hard about buying tickets for Tom Jones (83) and Graham Nash (81) for March next year but decided the asking price for tickets was just silly. I saw Tom in a small venue in 2014 when he was 74 and he was fab.

I also saw Neil Diamond in 2015 when he was 74 and Cliff & The Shadows in 2010 when Cliff was 70 and Hank and Bruce were 69. I saw Mavis Staples at 72, Aaron Neville at 70, Bobby Womack at 69 and who knows how old the Blind Boys of Alabama were! I've seen Bruce Springsteen twice in his mid-60s, Roky Erickson at 65, Simon & Garfunkel when both were 68, Barry Gibb at 67 and Booker T. & the M.G.'s when Booker T. was 70. So many good shows and these artists still impress mightily.
