I hope you get your books soon. The Dark Tower Series is my favourite. Having read The Wind Through The Keyhole (between 4 and 5) I will be reading it again but I plan to do them all in order. Happy reading to you and everyone..

Mark (marke_) | 103 comments I took a King break for like a year but I’m finishing up a different book so I can jump in on this one this month. Loved the DT series but never got around to reading this one. Looking forward to revisiting the katet again.

I love the series to bits I get transported inside the books every time I read them. Whenever I see a post about the DT series I want to read them all again. Long days and pleasant nights.. :)

Denise Denner | 3 comments I somehow missed The Wind Through the Keyhole when I read the Dark Tower series years back. I really enjoyed it and may soon start the entire series again!

Michael (thwompthing) | 17 comments This book was so good and it reminds me of a time when King actually wrote great fiction, unlike Holly. Holy God, I desperately need to start another author's book to rid the bad taste from my mouth after finishing Holly.

It should have been called "Covid, Vaccinations, and Black People"

You may have missed it because it wasn't out yet. The seven-book series finished in 2004, then, 8 years later, came this Volume 4.5.

Even considering the aspects of Holly you didn't care for, you might not want to abandon King because of one book. His upcoming short story collection could still be quite good.

If you ignored the "bad" parts of Holly, was there still a story there for you?

It's been the last several books for me, and Holly was the tip of the Iceberg on his constant covid+BLM rhetoric that I can't stand.

I won't write King off completely, but I will definitely be hesitant on reading his future novels. If he leaves out his constant political and moral views then I will return to reading his work. I've read all of his novels throughout the years and he has never been this bad with his liberal views. Even if he was conservative I wouldn't want to read about it. I read fiction for exactly that reason. Fiction!! Something that Koontz still does wonderfully.

There wasn't much of a story in Holly for me because it was plagued every other sentence with his views, so half of the novel was non existent for me. BUT, I did like what I read of the story and characters when it was purely fiction. I loved the villains the most. Rodney and Emily Harris were perfect.

Nick Iuppa | 4272 comments No comment on Politics, Michael, As far as "wind" goes... It's been a long time since I've read any of the Dark Tower series... and it's great to get back into it and spend time with these characters, even for this short adventure. I'm a huge fan of Wizard and Glass, and so it's natural for me to accept the long pause King takes from Roland's adventures to do a little reminiscing. especially about Suzanna who did so much to shape his melancholy personality. Anyway, half way through this and loving it.

Julia | 223 comments I haven't read Holly so I can't comment on political viewpoints but as far as his previous novels are concerned I didn't notice anything in that way. Maybe he was just trying to convey the mood of the people at that particular time..?
I tend to just dive in and enjoy the characters and the story wherever it takes me. The DT series is my favourite and I plan to re-read it again soon.

Kellie | 106 comments Well said Nick! I was wondering if I can start Wind Through the Keyhole but I feel that I should probably continue with The Waste Lands as I have only read The Gunslinger and The Drawing of the Three. My understanding is that Wind Through the Keyhole is not part of the continuing story, so I’m wondering if I am able to read it before the other Dark Tower books? Or do I have to read this one after Wizard and Glass?

It’s a stand alone book that can be read anywhere. Having said that is goes between book 4 and 5. Wizard and Glass and Wolves of The Calla. Hope this helps a bit.. :)

Kellie's right. It doesn't impact the rest of the story and can go anywhere. But I suppose it would help to know Jake, the Bumbler, and the rest of the Katet. So maybe best after book 2.

Nick Iuppa | 4272 comments So just finished Wind through the Keyhole, and enjoyed it... some great scenes (especially the tiger in the cage.) Not quite up to the power of the rest of the dark tower, but still an enjoyable interlude. Four Stars. Guess I said the same thing in my earlier review in 2018. https://www.goodreads.com/review/edit...

Mark (marke_) | 103 comments I’m halfway through Wind and I can only get through like 5 pages before I have to stop. Not sure what it is about this.. I think I’m just over King’s writing style. I am having a difficult time following the story within a story within a story. I liked the beginning section with the katet but once the inner story started I lost interest.

I’ll finish this one eventually but it’ll take me another month. 2/5 stars.

I will say that (view spoiler)

I think you hit all the problems with the stories within stories very well. Wasn't the story about the little boy saving his mother supposed to be a standard that mothers of the time read to their kids? If so it was a pretty rough tale, a mother marries an abusive husband who almost blinds her and her son has to exercise great self-control and heroism to save her. Good writing but the essence of the story seems out of line.

Nilofer (nilofers) | 84 comments I read this book soon after it came out and must say that reading the first few pages was just like meeting old friends after many years.
I’m a huge fan of the DT series and love how they intertwine and echo with King’s other books.
In this book I loved (view spoiler) and this is my favourite of the stories King has written that intertwine between the DT novels.
I hope new readers enjoy this as much as I did, happy reading!
