Hey,

I seem to have a drought on good ghost stories at the moment and it's frustrating me a bit. I've read a lot of well-known ones: Dark Matter, The Woman in Black: A Ghost Story, The Bell Witch: An American Haunting, The Exorcist and The Amityville Horror and enjoyed them and have read loads of James Herbert's books but I've hit a wall. Can anyone recommend any good ones for me please?

Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill is one of my favorite ghost stories. It's a good creepy tale.

That sounds intriguing. Ever since watching the Haunting of Emily Rose, 3am has been a problem for me! LOL

You may like The Elementalsby Michael McDowell. It's out of print so kindle or ebook is the only affordable option I've found. Also The Devil in Gray, and an oldie but goodie: The Baby

The Graveyard Queen by Amanda Stevens



A cemetery restorer who can see ghosts and while on a field job to restore a historic cemetery in South Carolina is sucked into solving a murder by the ghost (The victim-oh and a cop). She ends up romantically involved in a cop (the victim's partner) who is haunted by two ghosts. A fast easy read. Three full books out and three more on their way.

For ghost romance, I love Kelley St John's series: Ghost and Roses, Kiss and Dwell, etc.

I am a huge fan of ghost stories, esp. with romance involved. Nora Roberts plus her In the Garden Trilogy. Another one called by Robert Girardi is one of my favorites.

Thank you for the recommendations. I've never been particularly drawn to ghost romance as I love a good fright but may give it a shot to broaden my horizons :)

This was great. Romance, mystery and a ghost. The ghost isn't the romantic element--he's part of the mystery. If you ever went into a spooky old building as a kid, you'll relate to some of the scenes in this book
