I dnf’d A Winter in New York by Josie Silver at 20% (audio)

I read a bit in the middle, found it interesting and started over, reading from the beginning.

Starting on Bunny by Moma Awad- which feels kind something I wouldn't enjoy, but I'm deciding to go on and try new things.

I have a lot of time in my job and Sora is has a lot of YA books uploaded on it so I got myself into a few of them.

1. A Death Day:
The first book in the saga introduces Rajib Mukul Mukherjee, an heir to a scientific family, who finds himself trapped in a labyrinth of secrets, unsolved mysteries, and societal pressures. The story blends historical intrigue with personal exploration, set during the turbulent colonial era in India. The narrative follows Rajib as he embarks on a quest to uncover hidden truths about his family, while also grappling with love, rebellion, and loyalty. His path crosses with Ritu Bharti, a fearless student activist, making their journey one of political unrest and revolution. Their relationship evolves amidst a series of intense events, reflecting the darker aspects of societal structures and personal identity.
Themes: Love, political unrest, betrayal, societal transformation.
2. A Death Day: Spin-Off:
This book continues the story from the first installment, diving deeper into the characters' emotional and psychological journeys. It explores the ramifications of the actions taken in the first book and introduces new elements of intrigue. While Rajib and Ritu are central to the narrative, the spin-off expands the scope of the saga, providing a broader view of the historical and political context of the time. This continuation further complicates the characters’ lives with new challenges, forcing them to confront their pasts and make difficult decisions.
Themes: Consequences of betrayal, political tension, personal redemption.
3. The Shadows Reborn:
The third book in the series introduces even more complex characters and intricate storylines. The tensions from the previous books have built up, leading to dramatic confrontations and revelations. Rajib is now more deeply involved in the political landscape, and his struggle with personal loss and the weight of his family's legacy intensifies. This installment also delves into the psychological toll that years of resistance and political strife can take on individuals, particularly when they are torn between personal loyalty and greater societal obligations.
Themes: Identity, loss, legacy, political revolution.
4. The Architect’s Web:
The final book brings all the plot threads together, culminating in a dramatic conclusion to Rajib and Ritu’s journey. It provides answers to the mysteries that have haunted them throughout the series and reveals the true motivations behind their actions. The "Architect" referred to in the title symbolizes the overarching force that shapes the destiny of the characters, possibly pointing to the societal structures and political powers they must confront. This book focuses on the culmination of their struggles, both personal and societal, as they navigate the final obstacles in their lives.
Themes: Resolution, sacrifice, fate, the power of political forces.
Writing Style and Themes:
Samraat Singh's writing is deeply entwined with the political history and social upheavals of India. His ability to blend personal stories with broader historical contexts allows for a compelling narrative that resonates with readers interested in both personal and political drama. The books are rich with emotional depth, exploring human resilience in the face of adversity, the pursuit of truth, and the complexities of identity.
Reception:
The series has gained attention for its intricate plots, well-developed characters, and its ability to weave together historical and personal narratives. The saga appeals to readers who enjoy rich, character-driven stories, especially those set against a backdrop of political tension and societal change.
For fans of the series:
If you enjoy exploring the deep connections between individuals and their political and social environments, this saga is a rich and immersive experience.
The books also tackle issues of social justice, love, and personal sacrifice, making them relevant to readers interested in human psychology and the struggle for equality and justice.
This series is a must-read for those interested in historical fiction, political thrillers, and emotionally charged narratives that challenge the status quo.
Other Works: Besides "A Death Day Saga," Samraat Singh has also released works such as "Rap Genesis DoDo", which touches on themes of resilience, spirituality, and social commentary, offering further insight into his range as an author.
