Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9982 comments Wordlers might appreciate this:
yesterday my regular starter word came up, but I didn't want to spoil it for anyone, so kept this post until today.
Now I have to find a new starter word...

That's funny! I got it in line 4 but I can't remember what word I started with

Janelle | 636 comments That’s so funny, Marianne! My starter word TRADE came up about a week or so ago, now I’ve changed to RATED.

message 54: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn | 9854 comments My starter is similar to yours Janelle - RATES but it's never come up yet.

Suz | 4436 comments Oh my goodness it's almost time, Marianne! So exciting. A new chapter!!

message 56: by Suz (new)

Suz | 4436 comments Hi all AR friends! I have a little favour to ask. I will be convening an author panel next week, as part of an event, at the university library I work at.

I invited two authors
Suzanne Leal
and
Victoria Brookman

The group then asked me to lead the panel. Which is very daunting to say the least!

Can I start a small conversation with author questions you like (or don't like) at literary events? I know you've all been to many.

I'm planning a casual conversation but thought I'd ask you all. There is one predominant academic question, but I'm going to handle the rest. It's kind of a big deal!!!!!

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9982 comments First night in our new home, we have Dom Perignon in juice glasses because who knows in which box the champagne flutes are packed, along with curried eggs sandwiches. Our tablecloth was some butcher's paper the movers used to pack fragile things.
Today I removed all trace of us from the BNB unit, so now we are here for good. We were due to vacate tomorrow by 11am, so we cut it fine!

Great news Marianne. Enjoy your new home.

Alex Cantone | 984 comments Dom Perignon, a sandwich and a bed to flop into is fine for your first night. Have a good one.

Sounds like you've got a lot on your plate now that you're there, but at least there'll be no hurry. And you can enjoy every bit of it!

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9982 comments Been unpacking boxes all day, but with breaks, otherwise I get decision fatigue...
My sister and cousin both offered to help, but even if they unpack, I still have to decide where it has to live.

That's one of the hardest things about moving I think. Finding new homes for everything. Good luck Marianne.

Oh dear. The last time I moved was 35 years ago. The thought of it makes me panic!

Pluss, some of the stuff I'm unpacking looks so shabby here in this brand new place. Makes me realise just how poorly lit the rooms in our old house were.

The problem with my current house is that it has so much storage space. And I use all of it. I have a great fear of opening some cupboards.

You'd have lots of room for all your books then ;)

message 75: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9982 comments The joys of moving house:
- on the brand new dishwasher and discover a damp patch on the floor in front
-run the washing machine empty because, after being sealed up for 4 months, smell and mould
-unpack linen and discover it's quite dingy and needs either a good wash or the bin.
-getting your husband to unpack his clothes and make realistic decisions on what needs to go in the wardrobe, what needs to be binned and what might be OK for Vinnies

I'm hoping dementia kicks in in time for somebody else to be responsible for moving (or disposing of) me!

Finished my Goodreads challenge. 350/350. I had to make sure I only read short books this week. I may lower my target for 2024 so I can find time for those longer books:)
