Thanks Carolyn. I just did mine again on my PC and it went straight to an Excel spreadsheet which was nice and easy:) It takes a LONG time to create the export though. Time to go away and make a cup of tea!

Good to know Phrynne! I'll make sure I have some time to do it :)

I expect you have a very BIG library Phrynne!

Good to know it works seamlessly on a PC. I don't have the latest version of Office on my Mac so that may be why I had to tell Excel how the file was set up.

Rowan MacDonald | 407 comments In 10 years on Goodreads, I only had 2 DNF reads. And now I've abandoned 3 this August alone. I'm officially in a reading slump! Does this happen to anybody else? If so, do you have any tips or advice for how to get out of it?

Re-read something that you know you love or check all your fave authors and see if any of them have a new book you haven't read yet.

Sounds like good advice, Phrynne! Thanks 😊

I usually do as Phrynne suggests, try a different genre, or look at my tbr list for something I've been meaning to read for a long time but never got around to. Sometimes some little gems are hiding in there!

Thanks, Carolyn! I'm trying some shorter reads in hope that it breaks the negative momentum.

I get that! I mix in comics/graphic novels (for those short-read vibes) but also take time out for video games or movies. Normally those things get the imagination pumping and have me wanting books again.

Oh that sounds a great idea, Krystal! I've been watching more TV shows and movies lately, and feel like that will help remove me from this reading slump too.

It doesn't happen every time for me Sarah - but I agree! I roll my eyes each time it happens!

They only turn up for me after I've done 4-5 reviews in a row, or if I've been doing a series of edits on a single review and saving in between. So annoying!

Carolyn | 9854 comments I just read and reviewed my first book from Edelweiss. I tried it once before and found it difficult to navigate and also didn't get any requests approved, but I got sent a widget last week from a publisher so I thought why not try it.

I don't think I'll use it much as I already get too much from Netgalley, but I did look at their books available to download without requesting and found one in a series I like.

That's interesting Carolyn. I've looked at them occasionally but always leave it.

I had a quick look too but it is very tricky to navigate and very time consuming. Let's hope Netgalley continues for a very long time!!!

We're fine here thanks Dale. It's more likely Leonie would be feeling them as she lives in that area. This is the 3rd biggish one with lots of tremors as well.

It's definitely been an exciting few weeks! This morning's 'alarm' was a little early...

Leonie (leonierogers) | 3568 comments But we're all fine. Lots of shaking and noise rather than damage. A few people in town are stressed out by the ongoing tremors, but we're all good.

Just letting everyone know we now have to tick the box at the bottom of the thread which says "notify me when people comment".No longer is it automatic when you comment!

Helen (helen57) | 3448 comments Is anyone else having problems with Goodreads at the moment, when I open up Goodreads on my desk top to My Books there are a lot of books showing up on the page that I read years ago then in the challenge they ask me if I read them this year and some are saying date added as to todays date??

It is driving me crazy :)

Have Fun

Helen

Yes Helen, some of my dates are out of whack too.

I’ve also noticed a lot of covers not showing correctly on my Home feed. Just over the past week or so. It’s not the blank, beige GR placeholder, but more of a ‘nothing’.

message 436: by Helen (new)

I been having the same annoying problem every now and then.
My solution is to click 'read' or 'want to read' at the side. Then click the heading of the appropriate column and will put the books in order. If you click a second time it will bring up the earlier books first.
Hope this makes sense.

Does anyone here use KU? Is it worth it?

Yes, for 99c well worth it. I had a 3-month trial, and there are plenty of books I've enjoyed. If they were movies, I'd say they were mostly B-grade, not headliner films.

But give it a go for 99c and see what you like. Look for authors you know you like and you may be surprised. You can read most of them (or all of them?) for free.

message 443: by Sharon (new)

Sharon | 5503 comments Thanks Patty. Yes I thought it was worth it for that price and if I don’t want it anymore I can cancel it. :)

I just voted for the one book I had actually read out of all the choices in the Goodreads Choice Award final round. Apparently I don't read many popular books!

message 446: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 2167 comments In the first round, I’d read a handful but there was only one I thought good enough to vote for. But I was able to vote for it in 2 different categories! LOL

I think I’d heard of more nominees than usual this year, which is a nice change.

Carolyn | 9854 comments I'm the same, there were only a handful I'd read across all the categories but only a couple I thought worthy of voting for!
I guess I don't read the most popular books either!

Andrea | 2167 comments This will be no surprise to anyone, but just in case:-

BigW is having a fiction half-price sale today only. Lots of new releases for $8.
