The book you like most discussion
What is the last book you read, and how much did you rate it?

John Gwynne
I rated it 4 stars. The numerous subplots really keeps the story moving. Action, blood, sword fights and strange creatures galore. And the gods of course.

Review: The Prince’s Poisoned Vow is a political fantasy where intrigue takes center stage—deceptions, shifting alliances, and courtly machinations drive the story forward. The world-building is compelling, blending celestial deities with steampunk-inspired mechanics, creating a magic system that feels fresh and inventive. While the setting and characters are well-crafted, I found myself wanting deeper exploration of both—perhaps due to the multiple POVs and intersecting storylines spreading the focus a bit thin.
That said, the plot remains engaging, even if some twists are predictable. One of the book’s strongest aspects is its seamless LGBTQ+ representation, which feels natural and refreshing. The mix of divine magic and mechanical innovation gives the story a unique edge, toeing the line between fantasy and magical realism.
If you enjoy political scheming, diverse characters, and creative world-building, this is a satisfying read—just don’t expect the depth of a doorstopper epic. A solid choice for fans of intrigue-driven fantasy with a twist.

William Nack
I gave it 5 stars. I learned some new things from it too but it's a somewhat sad memoir.

Shroud

Adrian Tchaikovsky
I rated this 5 stars. It's an intense survival story on an alien world with a toxic atmosphere. And the alien is truly alien.
Three Dollar Mule

Clyde Robert Bulla
5 stars!
A fun children's book about how an animal doesn't have to look perfect in order to be useful. Nor does it need to be some expensive breed like a thoroughbred. A mule is just fine.
Gliff

Ali Smith
4 stars
This is one of those dystopian stories set in a near future where AI, wearables and proper ID is required. And it follows 2 homeless children as they try to live in that society. The main character is 13 year old Briar and his sister Rose is 11. They meet a grey gelding that Rose named Gliff.

Here Be Dragons: Treading the Deep Waters of Motherhood, Mean Girls, and Generational Trauma

Melanie Shankle
Rated this nonfiction memoir 2 stars - I just couldn't relate to it at all.
Autism, Sensory and Behavior: Everything You
Need to Know

Temple Grandin
Another 2 star review. Usually I enjoy books by this author but this one was a disappointment. It really didn't tell me anything useful to deal with my hyperacusis. For more details see my review.

Nameless Things

Ernest Jensen
I rated it 3 stars. It's a horror story set in the wilderness of a Colorado state park and it about man eating worms. It's a very fast moving story but the big secret - I had a hard time believing it.

The Traitor of Arnhem: WWII’s Greatest Betrayal and the Moment That Changed History Forever

Robert Verkaik
Rated it 3 stars. It's about the traitor named King Kong. This is World War II in case you don't know. He was a British spy who was working for the Nazis.

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead

Tom Stoppard
1 star for this play. It made no sense at all.
The Crucible

Arthur Miller
4 stars for this play. It's still as powerful and horrible as when I read it decades ago in school!!
The Well

Jon Allen
5 stars for this fun and mysterious graphic novel. It's a creepy Goosebumps type story.

I haven't rated it on Goodreads yet but I am giving it a five stars. I finished this book yesterday and it was amazing. I always struggle with multiple timeline books, but this was an amazing book. It had great meaning, great plot, and you never knew what was going to happen next.

Very Good 4.5 stars - gave us a really good book club conversation

Peças escolhidas 3 – Um inimigo do povo, Espectros, Casa de bonecas, Os pilares da Sociedade - Five Stars.

The Blanket Cats

Kiyoshi Shigematsu
I rated it 4 stars. These are 7 short stories about cats you can rent out for 3 days. These are not fluffy tales but about people who have problems. Examples include bullying, trying to outsmart the landlord and commiting a crime.

Caitlin Rother
Only 2 stars! This kept repeating itself over and over. Needs editing too..ugh.

Assault: Thoroughbred Legends

Eva Jolene Boyd
I rated it 5 stars and I learned a lot about horses from it that I didn't know.
