Hey, everyone! We're seeking suggestions from our members on how to improve Addicted to YA. If you have any ideas you'd like us to consider, please leave a comment.

Quinty (Taylor's Version) (queenq) | 589 comments As a add-on to a comment from someone else in a book suggestion topic: how about a seperate category for re-reads? So you'd have stand-alone, series, theme, continuing series and a re-reads category. That way it wouldn't take away from the books that are read each month, and people who've already read a book can still have the same amount of books to read. But also people newer to the group can catch up

Quinty (Taylor's Version) (queenq) | 589 comments Also, I'd like to suggest showing the poll results before they end, so people could strategically change their vote if it was close.

And I'd like to suggest bringing back one buddy read request topic. Making a full topic any time you want to request a buddy read seems like it would just clog up the group, plus people would have to check the group constantly to see if there are any new buddy read request rather than just turning notifications on for one topic.

Hi Jeff. As a new member, I'm not best placed to suggest how you can improve. What I'd like to know is more around the discussion side of young adult literature. As a newly self-published Author writing about social media, artificial intelligence, including impacts on individual and collective mental health and wellbeing, I'd be keen to join a discussion group that specifically looks at feedback from young adults and / or from parents of young adults.

Best Self: How To Thrive In The Era Of Artificial Intelligence

I just found this page, so sorry that I am repeating my message I sent to you. I would suggest sending out the winners for the upcoming month around the 15th or 20th of the month before so that we can discuss it more, so like posting January's winners on December 15th or so. I was on the wait list for three of the books for November, so I just got them and haven't been able to fully participate in the conversations. On the other hand, I might misunderstand the assignment and we aren't really supposed to discuss November books fully until December. If that is the case, just let me know. I am new, so I might just be wrong about how it works, hahaha.

Quinty (Taylor's Version) (queenq) | 589 comments What about doing the polling for the BOTM the last week of the month rather than the first of the next month? For example, for February doing the polls last week of December, not first of January. Would give people an extra week to get the book and to take the poll results into consideration for the next month's suggestions

Janna (mzhyde) | 470 comments I'm wondering if it might be possible to add more mods? It's not my intention to be rude, but I believe most people in this group like doing the monthly reads. It's a great way to get to know new books.

Maybe some active members would like to become a mod. (: I remember a few years ago this group was looking for mods and members could apply by reacting on a topic if they were interested. (this topic: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... )

Again, I don't mean to be rude, but I believe that managing a group can be a lot of work, so maybe it would be handy if there were more mods to help out. (:

I agree with this idea! It can be a lot to run a group by yourself, and people get into the monthly book discussions, so if we had more people to help, we might not miss months.

I'm totally open to this! Most of the current mods (myself included) are no longer particularly active. Please message me if you're interested in becoming a moderator for the group. :) You must be an active member (in the group for at least six months) with lots of free time. I hope this group can become super active again!

You can create a discussion by going to the discussion page and creating one. I would suggest the Open Discussion page
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...
Then click new topic on the top right.

The topic is still there, it's just been moved to the Series section. https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... (assuming you mean this topic)

James Joseph | 20 comments Instead of doing re-reads, how about having a poll on Indie books only. To ensure quality there could be a lower limit on ratings, say only 4 and above. Let's look for something different.

message 20: by Alicia (new)

Alicia | 6 comments Yeah but what’s nice about the rereads is if you join the club late, you get the opportunity to read it together.

EdwardoReader | 3 comments I feel like rereading is a great way to return to your favorite books and see them in a new light. It's even more meaningful when you can discuss them with people who are reading them for the first time.

Zoe I.L.K. | 45 comments Is there an FAQ?

I um just was wondering what should we do if we notice during BOTM polling that an Adult book reached the polling stage? Is there a message box where we can mention it quietly or if the book in question YA accessible and there's nothing outright explicit then is it worth even bringing up?
