✩°。⋆。˚⋆✮Lynn✮⋆˚。⋆。°✩ It has become very repetitive and I see it done in way too many books. I do love reading about strong female characters, but it's starting to get old. I've read books where authors would keep mentioning how the main character was not like other girls. It's annoying!

ashh ³³ ᵈᵘ ᵈᵘ ᵈᵘ (adiexe) Honestly, we all love a badass heroine who plays by her own rules, but especially in modern YA nowadays, it's so overused, honestly at this point to be unlike other girls you have to have to be/do at least three of the listed below

- love sowing
- bake
- have crushes
- wear dresses
- have parents
- have feelings that aren't
a. anger
b. revenge
c. murder
d. just any negative feeling

Nadia❤️ | 14 comments so annoying! Oh, and when they feel like the world is on their shoulders when they don't even have a backstory that is that deep. As you guys have said, we love a strong heroine character (and a strong male character as well!) but some authors make it so unoriginal and repetitive. It really depends on the author, the plot, and the genre though.

Annette Hernandez | 202 comments It's annoying and unoriginal. It is an extremely lazy way to make your protagonist seem special without having to put in much effort. Also, besides being straight-up sexist to belittle other women merely due to their hobbies, the trope also carries the misogynistic implication that being feminine and being strong are somehow contradictory. What is even a standard girl anyway?

I prefer a cast with girls with various sets of interests that don't put each other down. Still, the trope is not bad if it is self-aware enough about it, and her superiority complex is a character flaw for the girl to overcome rather than something she should be praised for.

✩°。⋆。˚⋆✮Lynn✮⋆˚。⋆。°✩ I agree with all of you!!!

Its kind of annoying in the books and makes the character feel cringe (idk why) and it also tends to get repititive in a lot of books.

asmaa ☆(FREE PALESTINE)☆ | 3 comments hate it. girls support girls ALWAYS. it's sooo annoying and literally so cringey. Putting down girls who are "traditionally feminine" is so out of style.

Romina Elizabeth (eliz09) it's so misogynistic and lazy. There are better ways to make your main character interesting and/or "special"

Exactly.

Bookwormpolitican | 7 comments Ok, I usually hate this because it's cringy and makes the character super unlikable, but there's like one or two where it's...alright? But it's usually terribly written.
