What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

2 sisters come of age when one can enter the forest where criminals are sent in but never return, whilst the other has to perform some kind of ceremony in the village, but one day their entire village is slaughtered including their father who was their sole guardian. the only other survivors were a guard, who has a enemies to friends to liking each other relationship with one of the sisters and the a criminal that somehow survived the forest. the first book pretty much covers them making their way to the city where the king recides to warn him about what has happened, they are chased by people or things, whilst also facing other challenges, they get split up at one point with each sister with one of the males but find each other. not entirely sure exactly what happens in book 2 except that a 'prince' is introduced or someone of royal lineage may be a nephew. we also find out that the criminal was stealing to provide for his younger siblings. also find out that the guard is the son of the guys who is incharge of the evil army that killed their village. MAJOR BETRAYAL, i never got to the third book i believe it was because it wasnt avaliable in any libaries as it was soon to be published or recently published. That is all i can really remember so not alot. i would've read this between 2018 -2021 but i'm not comepletely sure. if anyone recognises the story i'd be super grateful.
