Sophie Hicks (sophiehicks) | 1 comments Hello!
I am looking for ARC Readers for a short (35k) indigenous memoir touching on topics such as intergenerational trauma, addiction, poverty, and narcissistic abuse. The book will officially be released Dec 4, 2023.

Blurb:

For readers of I’m Glad My Mom Died and A Mind Spread Out On The Ground, this story of resilience and adversity as told by award-winning Métis author Sophie Hicks challenges the stigma surrounding addiction and abuse, providing hope and inspiration for those on their own journey to reconcile with their past.

Sophie is one of five children raised by an abusive father with narcissistic personality disorder. In this gripping and evocative narrative, Sophie's life begins in a small Canadian town in the ‘90s and unfolds in three parts, each imaginatively crafted from a series of memories and journal entries. Bound by the enduring trauma of narcissistic abuse, Sophie explores its impact on not only her life but also on those entangled with her painful past, touching upon concepts like intergenerational trauma, addiction, abuse, poverty, mental health, and the healing power of self-love—and anger.
