Booknblues | 12090 comments We need tags for our racetrack! Think of all the tags that you would like to see, ones we have never had and which you believe would be great, ones you wanted but didn't make the tag of the month, inventive, creative tags and tags you just like!

Please message me your tags. You can send up to 10 tags.

Please do so by December 15.

You can even do this if you are not planning on participating in this challenge. We want your input.

NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 11080 comments Great, thanks for letting us suggest 10. It would be hard to decide on just 3. I hope we end up with a mix of both personal favorites and crowd pleasers; some narrow, some broad.

Do we need to make sure that our tags have a certain numbers of books? Such as at least 20,000, 10,000, or 8000? Or will you look at that yourself when making the final determination?

Will there be a requirement that the books have at least 5 tags to count, or will it depend on the number of books on the list?

Nancy - this is from the original description indicating the idea is for unique unusual tags: Are there interesting and unusual tags which you wish would be used? This is your chance to let us know what they are. PBT members will be asked to nominate tags of their choice which have at least 200 books which 5 people have tagged. From these choices we will devise a circular board of 100 tags. Each participant would be given a random tag to start on and then proceed from that point.

Of course each may submit whatever type of tags they want.

Here is link to full final description on which we voted: 100 Tag Racetrack description

My impression was this should not be too easy.

LibraryCin | 11696 comments Thanks, Theresa.

I'm hoping for just a slight clarification on this:
"PBT members will be asked to nominate tags of their choice which have at least 200 books which 5 people have tagged. "

So, it can't just be that the tag has been used on 200 titles. It should be that there need to be 200 titles that have the tag at least 5 times?

As an example, I have one I'm looking at with a total of 349 books, but only 1 has had the tag used 5 times on the same book. So that would be out.

Robin P | 5760 comments What I did was go to the shelf for the tag and then to page 5. There are 50 titles per page on my computer screen, so 200 in the first 4 pages. If at the top of page 5, there are still books with 5 tags or more, it works.

Amy | 12931 comments OMG - I sent you the tags but did not do the homework to see if they have enough with over five people making tags. Whoops. I will take that list and "checking it twice." Sorry for having been naughty rather than nice.

Yeah, that's what I was doing (after I realized the distinction!). I was just confirming it wasn't simply that there needed to be 200 titles for the tag. Just looking for confirmation that there needed to be 200 titles tagged 5 times each.

Sounds like that IS the case. Thanks!

Amy | 12931 comments 200 titles, each tagged 5 times. Got it. Can anyone remind me how to look mine up?

Amy | 12931 comments Thank you Nancy - fantastic; doing it now. What a shame because I really loved my unique tag suggestions and how much do you want to bet most of them wont fly?

message 12: by Theresa (new)

Theresa | 15554 comments @Amy - I haven't settled on my final list of tags yet but I was shocked my how many of those I wanted to suggest didn't hit the tagged by 5 people requirement.

message 13: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12931 comments So many of them had thousands of tags, but by page four were down to 4 or 3 tags instead of five.....

That happened to me on forgery, art forgery, and counterfeits. Counterfeits didn't surprise me much but forgery and art forgery?

message 15: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12931 comments I found ten great ones and sent them off to BnB. It took me a while, but we want a fun year. Now off to do some real work on this rainy Sunday.

Joanne (joabroda1) | 12584 comments Ugh, lots of rain here too-I hate it!!! Give me snow any day.

message 17: by Booknblues (new)

Booknblues | 12090 comments Just a reminder to send me your tags!

message 18: by NancyJ (new)

NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 11080 comments Decisions decisions.

I'm trying to think outside the box for newer tag ideas, but I have so many favorites crowding my mind. I wonder if anyone is going to submit any awards, continents, countries, or author characteristics (e.g. Canadian Authors). ATY always has water/boat/coast related prompts, but I don't know if there is any one tag that would encompass this idea.

message 19: by Pam (new)

Pam | 498 comments I'm working on mine. It's a little harder than I thought it would be to narrow down!

Pam | 498 comments Done! Finally :)
