I liked the film adaptation. The film left out much of Eileen's personal hygiene habits, which didn't seem needed for the story.

I am planning on Moonstone as well.

My favorite task is always the introduction to new authors. Connie Willis is my favorite so far this season. I'm planning to read a few more of her books soon.

Jasper Fforde might be too silly for me. I'll try a couple of his books though.

I’ve got to check the film out. I’m glad they left that part out of the movie.

I want to try reading Connie Willis also. I might wait until next season as one of her books that I’m interested in will work for spring.

I’m listening to the audiobook narrated by the moonstone cast. I’m not sure if that one is available on cd but recommend it if it is.

I listened to a dramatized 3 disc production of The Woman in White, which was interesting. Didn't realize it was a dramatization, was listed as an audiibook in the library catalog. Now I'm waiting for a 20 disc unabridged audiobook of The Woman in White also through the library.
Will pick up Moonstone from the library this weekend and see what version I get.

January film recommendations:

All of Us Strangers - transcendent fever dreamscape, a testament to the power of love and memory. Music plays a very strong role in the film, there are two songs featured in All of Us Strangers that I intend to download. I've watched the film twice so far.

American Fiction - social satire featuring fictional authors and books. Based on the 2001 novel Erasure by Percival Everett. I've watched the film four times so far. Nominated for Academy Awards Best Picture.

Zone of Interest - Auschwitz setting. From the opening title, the film immediately demands attention. A disturbing window into the past. Most movie goers feel uneasy as they watch the film and leave the theater with a somber demeaner. Loosely based on the 2014 novel by Martin Amis. Nominated for Academy Awards Best Picture.

Night Swim - Swimming Pool Horror. Reminded me of reading The Drowning Kind by Jennifer McMahon. Loved the music, mythology and watching Kerry Condon. I watched the film twice while it was showing at my movie theater.

I read another character study (beside Eileen). Child of God by Cormac McCarthy. The main character, Lester Ballard is overall a horrible person. There are some beautiful passages describing the nature setting, but otherwise, I did not like the book. This was my fourth Cormac McCarthy novel, and the first I have not enjoyed. I'll be donating my copy to my neighborhood Little Free Library. Maybe someone will appreciate the book more than I did. Would not recommend.

Rachel | 3530 comments I finished The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins. I really enjoyed the recorded books audiobook which featured a full cast. Entertaining multi perspective mystery from way back in the day.

I won't be able to finish all the reading I had planned by end of the month. I still might read the books like Moonstone, Woman in White, Connie Willis, Jasper Fforde at a later date. Maybe some of them will even work for another seasonal challenge.
My mp3 player that I've been using for audiobooks the past two and a half years broke last week. I have a new one that I'm learning to use and transfer some books onto it. I was planning to catch up on my books this week. Yesterday, my computer keyboard gave out. I prefer to review books on my computer rather than the goodreads app. I should have a new keyboard by this weekend and plan to catch up with you all in March. Will be looking forward to the Spring Challenge as always.

Thanks for checking in, Dustin! :)
Sorry everything broke on you.
I know at least one of Connie Willis’s books will work for spring.
