Duration: January 1 - December 31, 2024

Inspired by the classic Monopoly board game, this yearly challenge takes bibliophiles around the board through forty bookish game spaces. Read books related to property color groups; original game tokens; book, author and character traits; and community/group activities!

You may read prompts in order, randomly, or roll dice to choose your next square. If you print the Bibliopoly board for tracking, please note that prompts may be abbreviated in the graphic. The prompt list contains more detail.

Prompts may be repeated. New! Add up to four houses 🏠 and a hotel 🏨 for repeating a prompt from a completed property group -- Purple, Blue, Pink, Orange, Red, Yellow, Green, Dark Blue.

Considering the time it took to make the game board graphic, and that most prompts are related to game board spaces and classic tokens, it's unlikely that I will remake it. The prompts that are unrelated to the game board are the diversity prompts, and I really don't want to remove those since they push us to explore different people and cultures.

The best suggestion I can offer you is to choose a different route to satisfy the prompts this year. Say, for this one:

38. Read a book with an author or character who has a physical disability or impairment, an emotional or mental disorder, or a neurodivergent condition.

If in 2023, you read a book about a character with bipolar disorder, this year you could choose a character with a different condition, or maybe read a book by an author with autism.

Barring that, might I suggest Popsugar, Magical Mystery Tour, Finish Line, and It's in the Cards? All of those challenges have new prompts.

Unfortunately, I know that we mods will never please everyone in the group, but I am certainly sorry to have disappointed you.
