I ended up reading this in December, as I had it out on library loan. It really wasn't what I had expected - I felt it was much more of a memoir and introspective work than I had originally thought based on the book description I had read. It had a very poetic writing style, and I appreciated the author's different interpretations of how the sea has been a grounding force in his life. There were some interesting snippets of information about the natural world in it, but I'd say the main focus of the book was about his relationship with the sea and those who live in/near it. I'd be interested to hear feedback from anyone else who reads this book.

Thanks for letting us know Pam. I am not a fan of memoir --though I know so many readers enjoy memoir greatly-- I will skip this one this time around.
