I’m new here. How does this work? Do we try and split tasks or are we trying to do all of them each? I like to try and plan ahead with my reading for the most part. I’m always throwing in unplanned books as I’m always distracted by other books….Life as a reader 🤷🏼‍♀️🤣 Just trying to get a game plan together for next week.

We will definitely need to coordinate to ensure we have everything we need covered. If you have an idea of what you want to read, let us know what categories your books fit and we can go from there.

Yeah, we at least have to read 13 books per week as a team. Both tasks need to be read for one judge, one host, one dance, one professional dancer and one character/star. Plus, the 3 people who need to read for the theme's task - again, we only have to read for one of the tasks for each theme's week. Not both.

Which reminds me, I'll create a post for the first week's theme ASAP.

This round will cover seven (7) days.

Start: January 1st at 12:00 AM (in your time zone)
End: January 7th at 11:59 PM (in your time zone)

This week's theme will only have two tasks, just like all the future theme's coming your way. Friendly reminder, you only need to read for ONE of these tasks. We also need THREE different people reading for this task.

Here are this week's tasks:
*Series title starts and ends with a letter in PREMIER, OR
*Tagged 'Novella' at least 20 times

i have a book on KU that fits the weekly task PREMIER, if it works for 2 others as well

I think Novella would be easier than series that starts and ends with a letter in PREMIER. I have a few novellas I could read if we want to go for that one.

Kim yours hadn't popped up yet when I typed that. I don't have KU so couldn't join for that specific series, but I'll take a look at what I have that fits an I'm happy to do that one instead if we can get another

not a worry at all! if novellas are easier, let's go for it! i've only got a few hundred books on my TBR 😂

Remember, only three people need to read for the theme tasks. All other tasks can be read by one person.

I’m reading the tasks for Jive and professional dancer Jenna Johnson. That’s 4 books total. I may add more books depending on how my week goes but that’s a sure thing for now.

For some reason I can only add my name to the first lines of the SS.

Ok, so I’m apparently having trouble with the SS. Not sure why. It keeps saying invalid. I assumed maybe the frost three rows were reserved for premier night but I can’t add my name to other rows.

Yea I’m not sure if the SS isn’t working but there’s no options in the drop down menus. So I just put what prompt my book works for in the notes section until we figure this out??

That works. I believe the first three slots in the spreadsheet in the black box are the three books for for the week's theme so we can ensure we have three different readers for it.

I see the problem but am on mobile and can't just fix it myself. The drop down after the three premier spots moved down the sheet instead of always pulling from the same cells with our name. So once we are past cell 12 none of our names show up. It's an easy fix that Alaina can do, or I will later when I'm on my computer. For now put your name in additional notes if it doesn't show up in the drop down.

Okay, I think I fixed the issues - let me know if I missed anything or if something new pops up.

So, do we have a plan as to what we want to try and go for this week? Outside of the theme task. I have no idea what book I'll be diving into first for the new year so I'm open to read for anything.

It looks like Judge and Host covered and Shannon is reading a book for Jive so we have to choose professional dancer and one character/star.

I'm goint to stat tonight and I can use it for Harry Potter (Magic), Galaxy "Alex" Stern (Horror) or Gleb Savchenko (name starts with G). Maybe some other ones. Can anyone match the other task? I'm not sure where to put it yet.

You could add it to the banked books tab!

I’m doing both task for Jive and both tasks for Professional Dancer Jenna Johnson. I’m sure I’ll have another book or two but I haven’t gotten that far. Should I focus on getting extra judges so we can shoot for the bonus? What is the best strategy?

so it looks like we have:

weekly task (PREMIER) - 2 CR, need 1
one judge (Len) - 2 CR, need 1
one host (Lisa) - 2 CR, need 1
one dance (jive) - 2 CR, need 1
one professional dancer (Jenna) - 2 CR, need 1
one character/star (Frodo) - 1 CR, need 2

We only need two task per judge/character/dance do its just Frodo where we need another.

Well and the theme task

The one I'm reading - Thrust (Into the Fire Series) by Mia West is very short 108 pages so just enough for a theme task and the complete series is available for free on Kobo (in Canada at least) and $1 on Amazon.

I added the other Frodo so they are both covered now. So I have both for Jive, both professional and star for the dance. It's all covered.

Freestyle - free & style in text/book you got for free
Salsa - salsa in text

Or I can put it on hold/banked tab for next week - maybe for host, Tom? MC loses their job or quits.

I just finished Today Tonight Tomorrow (it's in the Banked Books tab) and here's everything it works for:

Dances:
Charleston- MC has a nickname
Rumba- Series title starts with R
Cha Cha Cha- Alliterative title
Freestyle- Read a book that you got for free
Contemporary- MPG Contemporary or Features an independent character (your interpretation)
Foxtrot- MC is a rule follower

Judges:
Carrie Ann Inaba- Author has 3 words in their name
Derek Hough- Book has received award

Professional Dancers:
Artem Chigvintsev- Author's last name as 3 vowels in it (It's the same vowel so I'm not sure if it counts)
Witney Carson- MC is the oldest child

Stars:
Xander Riorson- MC is considered a leader
Iris Winnow- MC writes/receives a letter

How does the banked tab work?

What do you mean? The banked tab is for books that you've read but don't fit for something this week - whether it's for a future theme task or judge/host. Since we can only read for one judge and host per week. You could bank a book that you've finished that could work for one of the future weeks.

Or you could just add the books there that you are currently reading and not sure what it could fit.
