GailW (abbygg) | 529 comments I can always tell when I'm "on the road", a lot of eBooks are read! (Had 4 stops to make, 20 hour drive time, and lots of suitcases!)

The first two are my favorite for the month:
Be the Bus: The Lost & Profound Wisdom of The Pigeon by Mo Willems
A short, very sentimental read for me. Bought it as a gift for my 17 yo grandson who first introduced me to the pigeon when he was very little. I then bought one for me to add to my "take me to the home" collection... If you ever have a melancholy day, read "Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus". You'll laugh!
Happiness Falls by Angie Kim -5

My Sister, the Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite -3
No Way Home by Annette Dashofy -4
Don't Be Afraid, Gringo by Elvia Alvarado -3
Translated nonfiction, memoir, from an activist in Honduras trained by the Catholic Church to help others fight malnutrition. When the church no longer wanted to pay the women for their work, the women continued anyway. Only they continued by questioning why people were malnourished in the first place. Another colonialism story gone wrong.
Girl Gone Missing by Marcie R. Rendon -4
Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone by Benjamin Stevenson -4
One Crazy Summer by Rita Williams-Garcia -4
Three young black sisters from NYC are sent to visit with their mother in Oakland, California for the first time since she "ran away". She doesn't really want them there so she sends them everyday to a day camp at a local community center. However, it's the 1960's and the community center is run by the Black Panthers. Really a great storyline.
The Family Man by Elinor Lipman -3
The Lost Apothecary by Sarah Penner -4
Hmmmmm. Got a man in your life who is dreadful? Go visit the apothecary (except it's 1791) and she'll set you up with a poison that likely will never be detected.
Who Is Vera Kelly? by Rosalie Knecht -3

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9502 comments I too am intrigued by One Crazy Summer. In high school I volunteered with the St. Louis Black Panther Party's Free Breakfast Program for elementary school kids and it was awesome.
