He nodded and led her down the street. Opening the door to a building and walking up the stairs to the roof.

She followed him and closed her eyes. 'Don't be afraid. Don't be afraid. You're strong.' She thought to herself. Slowly, she started to get less nervous. Once they got to the roof, she looked at him.

He looked back, "Now this, this is a blessing." he opened his wings. "I figured you didn't want to walk." he held out his hand.

She looked at his hand and sighed. "I can walk and I don't mind it. You don't have to carry me." She lightly grabbed his hand.

He gave a half smile. "Actually I did it because I needed to fly and I thought you would enjoy the ride. "

"We are going... Up?" She said surprised. She held his hand and looked up at the sky. She was still curious about his curse, but was it necessary to be in the sky.

"Yes, are you okay with that?" he asked nervous. "It's the fastest way to where we are going. "

"I'm fine with it. Just... Don't drop me." She said with a small smile. "I'm pretty sure it won't be fun." She said still holding his hand.

"I promise i won't drop you," He let go of her hand and wrapped his arms around her waist from behind her. "Hold on tight," He said and then he pushed off and soared in the air.

She let out a yelp as the ground started to get smaller. She watched worriedly as everything she had know started to get smaller and smaller. She closed her eyes and held on tightly.

He let out a whoop and slowed, hovering in air. "You okay?" he asked laughing over the wind.

She nodded. "Yes." She said quietly. She forced her eyes to open and then she stared forward. "Woah. This is amazing!" She said happily.

He closed his eyes and breathed in. "The air is so clean and cool, I could live here forever," He wished he could see Kim's expression. "I haven't done this in a long time,"

"Why?" She said staring at the sky. "I would think you are able to since you have wings and all." She said smiling a bit.

"Um, i've been a bit preoccupied," He'd been watching her and then the demons and then he was hurt. He hadn't been up here for a month at most.

"I see." She reached one hand out and could feel the wind. She smiled brightly. "This is so cool! Is this your curse?" She said attempting to look back at him.

He sighed. "No, like I said, This is a blessing," He shook his head and started flying towards a building in the distance. "I don't want to leave," he said

"You don't want to leave? The sky? You can always come up here, if you have wings. You can use them." She said with the shrug of her shoulders.

"Not when I have a job to do," he said giving a sad smile. He set her down on another rooftop. His wings folded into his back as his feet touched the ground.

She looked back at his wings and touched them. She quickly drew back. "Woah. They are so soft." She said touching them again and then jumping back. "That's so cool and weird."

He spread them out again and laughed. "They're wings, what did you expect?" he said a feather fell. He caught it and handed it to her. "Now you'll always have one," He said. "Um sorry that was kinda creepy,"

She shook her head. "No. It's not creepy." She said looking at the feather. "It's a memory." She put the feather carefully in her pocket. "Thank you."

"Are you ready to see the curse?" he asked. He was wondering if she would back out or run from him as soon as she saw the room.

She took a deep breath and put her hand in the pocket she had the feather in. "Okay. I'm ready." She said with a nod.

He opened the door to a stairwell. "Watch your step, the third steep down is broken." he looked around. The building had been abandoned for quite some time. He'd moved into the top level, and in one room his greatest curse lied.

She nodded as she started to walk down. The steps moaned as she kept walking down. She hoped over the broken steps as she finally made it down. "Where to now?"

He sighed and opened the door to the landing. He walked into the room he used as a practice room. He watched the dust kicked up. He walked towards a closed door and took a deep breath.

She looked around and then waved her hand to get the dust away from her face. "Looks like you never clean this place." She stopped besides him.

He laughed. "I'm almost never here. Except to practice," he motioned to the swords in a pile on the floor. He ad also drawn targets on the walls and arrows and knives were stuck to them.

"I see." She mumbled quietly. She bent down to touch one of the swords, but stopped herself. She looked around. "What's the curse?"

He reached out a hand for her. If she took it he would open the door too his nightmare. If she didn't... he'd be left to his own demise.

She looked at his hand. She wondered why he was offering his hand, but took it either way. "Is this part of the curse?"

He sighed in relief. "No... this is my curse." he turned the knob of the door behind him and pushed the door open. The window in the corner was covered by a blanket but there was still enough light to see by. On the walls, celling in floor, were thousands of tally marks. There were pictures torn out of magazines and newspapers, photes he'd stolen. They were all of people that were dead. Dried blood covered some of the pictures. Weapons were lodged in the walls.
He let go of her hand. "Run, scream, do it, This is my curse, this is me...just know I will always be afraid..."

She grabbed his hand again once he let go. She looked around and saw the tally marks and the weapons. She grabbed his hand and put it against her heart that was actually a steady beat. "Here's a fact about me... When I'm afraid, my heart races..." She said quietly.

His heart leaped, she wasn't afraid. He felt the beat of her heart, calm and steady. He took a deep breath and faced her. "Why not?" he replied in a whisper, "Because I am, and I will be, the rest of my life. This is my curse. This is who i'v killed," He motioned to the tallies and photos, "And those are what I killed them with," he motioned to the weapons. "It haunts me every moment of my life,"

"That's the reason I'm not afraid." She said. "It haunts you. It would make me afraid if you enjoyed it." She said attempting a small smile to comfort him.

"That's the thing," He shoke his head his throat closing up. "It's in my nature and every other-" he choked on the word Angel, "Angel does enjoy it. It makes me think I should," He cast his eyes down to the floor. "And so I do it, over and over again... and all it gets me is this, guilt and nightmares." He didn't look up and closes his eyes knowing that she would leave. Anyone else would.

"Hey..." She said softly. "It's your nature... Not like you have a choice. If it was your choice and everything that would be different. Also, you are my guardian for now... I'm not afraid a protector."

He was relived. Why didn't she run? Why wasn't she afraid? He pulled her hand from her chest and laced their finger together. He was grateful for her, she was the only thing grounding him.

She looked at their fingers and she couldn't help, but blush. She looked away and used her other hand to hide her blush.

He finally looked up. At the pictures and tallies, then settling on Kim. "Thank you," he said softly.

She nodded. "No problem. Thank you for showing me rather than keep it a secret." She said closing the door. She took a deep breath before hugging him.

He stood there for half a second in shock. Then he quickly wrapped his arms around her. He squeezed her tightly.

She smiled slightly and laughed softly. "You're squeezing a bit to tight." She said noticing how close they suddenly were and how tight he's hugging her.

"Oh sorry," he released pressure slightly. For a few seconds he wondered if he should continue hugging her or if he should let go. He decided on the latter even though he didn't exactly want to.

She laughed. "It's okay." She patted his shoulder. "Do you wanna head back to my place? I'm not sure if angels eat, but I can make something."

He smiled. "I guess I'll finally answer your question. " he said. "You've asked me that at least three times" he walked them out of the bloody room and closed the door behind him.

"That's because I'm very hungry and we almost got attacked back in the street." She said reaching for his hand again. She felt suddenly safe while holding it.

He was slightly surprised but instead of letting go he twined there fingers together once again. "We'll what are you in the mood for?" He asked.

"How about chicken? It's always juicy and filled with flavor." She said happily. She didn't look down at their hands, but felt their hands together. She smiled slightly because of it.
