he picked her off the ground and to the dense part of the forest. Making sure they were covered he looked her over. "Are you okay?" he asked gently, wiping mud from her face.

"I'm muddy." She said letting him wipe the mud off her face. She looked down at the mud on her clothes. "Darn it..." She mumbled.

He smiled. "A little bit of dirt on your face? Is that going to stop you?" he said. He heard another roar and flinched. It was getting closer.

"Nope. But my socks and shoes will." She said looking down at her shoes that was covered in mud. "Why can't we fly out of here?!"

"I can't use my glamour, it won't work." he said. turning towards the sound. "You still have my feather correct?" he asked.

"Yeah..." She said and grabbed the feather out of her pocket. "Why are you asking?" She said worriedly.

He gently led it back into her pocket. "keep it safe," he said. He looked back into her eyes. "Don't lose it," The roar crept louder.

"What are you planning on doing?" She said starting to panic. "I can run. I just need to try hard okay? Don't do whatever I think your going to do."

He looked from the sound to her again. His grip tightened and he made a split second decision. He leaned down and kissed her softly. He then whispered in her ear. "If anything happens to me burn my feather," he said. "Follow the trail and you'll meet a friend of mine. Tell him you know me but not who you are," he let go and ran off to the sound

Her eyes widened. "No! Kavian!" She was about to run forward, but the mud in her feet slowed her down. "Kavian! Don't leave!" She yelled and gripped her hands. She closed her eyes and started to take off her socks and shoes.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you," a man said stepping out of the shadows. He had curling Ram's hors atop his head. He was rather old. He came closer. "You'll get yourself killed. "

She looked over and flinched. Quickly moving away. "Who are you?" She asked quietly. She didn't mean to be quiet, but she was sort of alarmed by the horns.

"Oh just a man, a monster, some say," he paused. "And you?" He said his eyes glinting.

She opened her mouth and then closed it. She stood up wiping the mud off her clothes. "I'm a goddess actually."

"A goddess!" He said circling her. "Liar you are no goddess! Intimidation won't work. Now why are you here? Who sent you?"

"My guardian angel brought me here. Plus, I'm not lying about being a goddess. I'm the daughter of the sky." She said trying to be confident.

"Foolery won't get you out of this." he came closer. "Who is your guardian?" he pushed her up against a tree and held her by her neck. "Or you die," he said.

She gritted her teeth as he held her up from the neck. She started to scratch at his hand. "I'm not telling you... By the way, I'm sorry." She grabbed his hand and used her magic. In one quick swipe, his hand fell off. She quickly threw the hand away and punched him.

He looked at his hand. "Clever girl, but I will not stop. You have caught my attention, come to trail girl?" he said his voice slightly softer.

"Get away from me?" She said backing up and slipping again. She fell back and fell in the mud again. She groaned and sat up and let the rain wash the mud off.

"I'm afraid I can't do that, you see I happened to overhear part of that conversation with your angel, your supposed to follow the trail, yet I can only do that if you tell me who your guardian is."he said clutching his bleeding stump of a hand to hos chest.

She bit her lip. 'If he tries to hurt Kavian I'll kill him.' She thought. "Okay... It's Kavian. He's my guardian angel." She said still in the mud and watching the monster.

The things eye's widened and he lost his balance. "Kavian? Kavian, by god come with me!" he said. "We have go to go."

"'We?' There's no 'we.'" She said crossing her hands over her muddy shirt. "What makes me trust you more than that monster over there?"

"Because I won't kill you!" he said. If Kavian sent her than he had to be on a suicide mission. He promised he would protect the next person with his life. A favor fulfilled.

"You just tried to kill me just a few seconds ago! You held me by the throat to the tree. Explains the missing arm." She mumbling pointing at him.

"I didn't know who you were with! How would you react if you knew someone was trying to hunt you down?" He shouted back. He looked back at his stump. "Actually it's a hand,"

"You don't think I'm not being hunted too?! I'm not kidding with the whole goddess thing. Probably why that there's a monster over there. Plus, I don't care if it was a arm or hand. I'm not going anywhere with you." She said.

"Well Kavian does! Why else would he send you here!" he said trying to convince her.

She remembered his words and her eyes widened. "No way your his friend!" She stood up. 'I shouldn't of told him I'm a goddess then.' She thought.

"A friend?" he said quietly. "That is what he thinks of me?" he asked. "Never mind let's just get you out of here!"

She sighed and shook some mud off of her hair. "Fine, but what about Kavian? What will happen to him?" She asked.

He looked back to the forest. "Hopefully not die," he held out his non injured hand, "Come, before you die."

"I won't die. By the way, is there a way you can magically grow your hand back because it's kind of gory." She said not taking his hand and walking besides him instead.

"It'll take a few days but yes," he said leading her through the forest. "You'll stay with me until we're called." he said.

"Oh splendid." She mumbled feeling so weird being even remotely close to him. "Where are we heading anyways?" She asked him softly as her feet squished as they walked in mud.

"A place," he said. He tore the sleeve of his shirt and wrapped it around the bloody stump. "A place where no one will find us. "

"It honestly sounds like your kidnapping me." She mumbled. Then stopped when she saw the place. "Wow. This was in the middle of the woods." She said.

"Umm yes we are in the middle of the woods. It was a wooden cottage. It was rather big but the ivy and trees that grew from it made it look like any other part of the forest. There were no windows. "Go ahead."

She looked at him and then walked to the cabin. She sighed of relief when she reached the steps. She sat down on the steps. "Thank goodness." She took off her shoes and socks.

He sighed and walked inside. 'Kavian why? Why a suicide mission? Really?' He thought.

She sat there for a few moments staring into the forest. She thought back to their kiss and bit her lip. She knew she should have gone to help. She took his feather out and looked at it. Slowly, tears sprang in her eyes.

He looked back and decided to give her a minute alone. He sat on the wooden table and started to clean his wound.

She took a deep breath and kissed the feather softly before putting it away. She stood up and put her shoes by the door before walking inside. "Do you happen to have a change of clothes?"

He grunted. "Down the hallway to the right third door in. That'll be your room from now on. Look I'm the closet and see what you can find.

She nodded and walked down the hallway. She found her room and opened the door. She closed the door behind her as she walked to the closest. She found some clothes as well as socks, panties, and bras. 'Should I be digested or thankful he has these.' She thought as she changed.

He continued cleaning his wound. It had stopped bleeding. He wrapped a clean bandage around it. He sat and waited for the girl.

She walked back out with new clothes and the feather in the pocket of her new clothing. She frowned at him. "By the way, what are you?"

"A thing that wasn't meant to be made. " he said. His voice tightened slightly. You can call me Leaf. "He said. "A nickname I earned for your guardian,"

"Leaf... Alright." She said looking at his horns. 'Was he mutation or a tamed demon?' She thought to herself. She sat tiredly besides him.
