He looked at her. "What was Kavian doing?" He asked. He was curious on Kavian he hadn't seen him in over ten years.

"He's helping me. It's this mission I have to do and he has to help me." She said softly. "And now it's put on hold..." She hugged her knees to her chest on the chair.

"When did you find out about this?" He asked taking mental notes.

"Honestly, about a week ago. Maybe less." She said rubbing the back of her neck. "This is all still new to me." She said.

"Ae you okay?" He asked. Not out of concern. Just to acknowledge the fact.

"Yeah I'm fine." She looked back at him and then away. "I'm sorry to sound super rude, but really what are you? I'm guessing not a angel. Are you like a demon?" She said looking at his horns.

He smirked. "Of a sort," he said. He stood and shook off. "Would you like a tour?"

She wanted to say no instantly, but if Leaf was gone she needs to find her way around. "Fine." She stood up.

He walked the house. His horns never touching the ceiling.

(Wait. I'm confused. What's going on?)

(There having a tour but would you want to skip ahead to that night or the next morning?)

(Let's skip to the next morning because I thought it was alright night.)

(Oh yeah…! You start?)

Kim woke up the next morning and sat up startled. Then all of yesterday came back. She sighed in the bed and threw the covers off.

Leaf was already in the kitchen and a plate of food out for the girl. He had already eaten. He stared at the carvings in the table.

She looked at the food and took it. She poked at it with her fork. She sliced it up too just in case he cooked it wrong. "Hmm. Can you take a bite before I do?" She asked Leaf.

He looked over to her. "Gee thanks. It's not poisoned and is cooked fine…" he said rolling his eyes. He took out a stick and started tracing the etches.

She sighed and eat it even though everything told her not to. It was decent though. While, she ate she watched him. "What are you doing?"

He looked up. "I'm tracing." He said simply. He took the stick and pointed to the etching.

"May I ask why?" She asked as she took a bite of her food and looked at all the carving on the table.

He sighed. "It a tradition I'm carrying on," he said. Leaf figured the girl want an explanation so he explained further. "Kavian needed my help. He stayed with me for awhile. He never slept. What he did instead was carve this every night."

"Why did he need your help? Why didn't he sleep?" She asked and reached in her pocket to touch the feather.

" he got himself badly injured in…a fight. Someone he thought dearly of died in that fight," he said. "He only had nightmares so he stayed up and did this. "

She got quiet and looked at the carvings. She looked at him and watched him carve. "What else do you do here?" She asked.

"Try and stay alive," he said. He looked up and put the stick away. "What else is life?" He asked slightly defeated.

"A lot more than that." She mumbled. She looked at his horns again then away. "Are you able to get wifi here?" She asked.

He raised his eyebrows. "Yes…… why do you want wifi?" He said slightly confused.

"I still have work. I need to email my boss I'm quitting." She said. "With everything going on, I have no choice." She sighed softly.

He nodded. "I'll be outside, get me if you need something. " he got up and walked out the back door.

She nodded and took her phone out. She couldn't email her boss though, her eyes kept drifting to the carvings. She wanted to know so bad if he was alright, but she was stuck here.

Leaf looked back inside and at the girl staring over the carvings. She must care for Kavian. He looked away. He went back outside.

"I finished the email." She said and closed her phone. She looked up at Leaf. "Hey... Do you have anyway of contacting Kavian?"

He looked up. "No" he said simply. "Kavian is on his own and there is no way for us to help him," he said.

She looked down. "I'm going to my room to take a nap." She said softly. She got up and walked to her room. She laid down on her bed and closed her eyes.

He knew he had been a bit harsh but he knew that she needed to know the truth. "There's something in your room for you!" He said calling after her.

She propped herself up slightly and rubbed her eyes slightly. "What do you mean?" She called back to him as she looked around.

Leaf didn't reply. He didn't hear. He moved farther into the forest.

She looked around in the room until her hand bumped against a box. 'Is he talking about this?' She thought. She opened it up.

Inside the box ther was a letter. It read
I'm sorry.
I really am. I didn't want for this to happen. I gave this to Leaf in case. Well if your reading it I guess that case came true. I'm supposed to protect you and right now I'm failing. I'm putting my burden on someone else. Do tell Leaf I'm sorry. I'm sorry to you to. I may not make it back, where ever I am, I did write this awhile ago as soon as I met you so I'm not sure where I am. I don't know why I'm writing this. I know you are able to take care of yourself. Remember my promise. Remember yours as well.

After the many many wrappings inside held a matchbox, a single match inside it. Etched on the bottom was The Promises We Make.

She found herself crying again after reading the letter. 'No. He's okay. He'll come back I'm sure.' She thought. She thought back to the kiss and gripped the letter tighter. "You idiot. You ran off and killed yourself..." She said in between gasps of breath as she cried. She looked at the matches and pulled the feather out of her pocket. "Kavain..." She whispered.

Leaf came back to the house nd heard the girl crying. "Kavian you heart breaker what have you done?" He said walking down the hallway trying not to disturb her.

She stayed there for a few moments before staring at the feather. 'But it feels like this is all I have left of him... But, a promise is a promise.' She thought. She sadly walked out and put the feather down outside then lit a match.

He walked farther down the hall before he heard the pounding on the door. It was loud. He opened the door to see Kavian fall in his arms. "No!" He shouted bloody and weak.

She flinched entirely and when she did she accidentally dropped the match. "Wait!" She quickly caught it before it fell on the feather. She threw the match and quickly patted her hands on her jeans to get the sting away.

Kavian collapsed in leafs arms. He fell unconscious soon after. There was so much blood on him. Leaf turned to the hallway and yelled for the girl. He put Kavian on the table and closed the door.

She still rubbed her hands on her pants, but froze when she saw Kavian. "No!" She quickly ran over to him and started to panic with all the blood. "Leaf! What should we do?" She said panicking.

Leaf took a pair of a occurs and cut Kavians shirt open revealing two arrow shafts and a knife embedded in his chest and stomach. "My god," he said trying to clean the blood.

Her eyes widened as she watched. "What happened?! Who did this to him?" She felt her eyes tearing up again. He was suffering by himself again.

Leaf watched as the blood from Kavian's body started to fill the crevices of the etchings. He wiped as much blood as he could and stared. He decided to take the dagger out first. He pulled and it came out with ease. The arrows were the hard part. If he wasn't fast enough his body would try and heal around them. If he went to quick he may pull and cut more of his skin. He pi a hand on one of the arrows. His hand slick with blood.

She watched and didn't know what to do honestly. She did though grab the knife. She looked at it and bit her lip. "This isn't like a store bought knife or anything... It's magic, but I don't know from what..."
