What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I read this book over 10 years and do not know the date of publication. The basic plot was about the three wives of submariners and I am thinking it was set near Cornwall England.

One of the women had small children and the other women encouraged her to NOT live her life around them because they would grow up and eventually, she'd be on her own. They wanted her to socialize and - maybe date? Seems her husband was either unfaithful or he had died in the book.

If I recall correctly one of the women was named Felicity. The book covered roughly 20 years. I'd apprecaite any help as I remeber, at the time, I would read more by that author. The author was a woman, that much I do remember.

First Friends maybe? A Friend of the Family appears to be a sequel.

Thank you all so much. I couldn't find it at my library so I bought it from Thriftbooks. I'm sure this must be the same book and now I can have it again.
