The famous mystery author Leslie Charteris takes passage on the tragic flight of the zeppelin Hindenburg in 1937 and finds a great deal more than he bargained for. I found this book very well done, extremely interesting and exciting. I really liked it, 4 stars.

Hope you enjoy it. This was an early stand alone traditional mystery of Hillerman's that I thought was good.

I am with you on this one!
Also I LOVE Grandma Mazur as well. When she was truly introduced in the second in the series, I was enchanted by her character and hooted out loud often over her antics or comments!

I read the 2nd in the series quite sometime ago and as I recall it was an improvement on this first effort.

Hope you enjoy it. This ..."
I did enjoy it. There are some very dated things since it came out in 1971, but there are a couple of edge of your seat scenes.
I actually had most of today to read, so I finished shed Point Zero by Seicho Matsumoto. I thought I'd figured it out midway through, but I was dead wrong. Awesome mystery, which begins with the husband of a newlywed woman going off for a business trip right after the honeymoon and never retuning. I was, as always, happy to be wrong with my guess of the killer. Watching the film now, translated in English as Zero Focus and streaming on Criterion.

In this legal thriller, a one-term former president is arrested for murdering a lawyer he'd been having an affair with.
The author is a Washington D.C. lawyer, so the book has an authentic vibe. 3 stars

Love the author and his books but this the #8 th book in the series has been the weakest so far considering there are a couple of novellas in between too.
#awesome concept and start. Slows down in between.

The Wasp Factory by Iain Banks

It was nice to connect with the characters again, but the pacing could have been much better.

In this memoir, Baptist Minister and college professor J. Dana Trent writes about her dysfunctional upbringing with a schizophrenic drug lord father and a narcissistic difficult mother.
In the end it's an inspirational story. 4 stars

Rivers of London #9. Peter is faced with what may be the Angel of Death. Or maybe it's just a lady upset about having been locked up for 2 or 3 hundred years. In case you're not aware, the Rivers of London series is a modern English police procedural in a world where magic is real. I love the series and this volume is absolutely wonderful. Exciting, funny, baffling, you name it. Great characters and dialogue. And the plot never slows down. One of the best in the series, 5 stars.

In this book, Jack is trying to keep 3 CPAs safe in the wilderness of Yosemite from the assassins trying to kill them before they can testify at a trial. A slow burn thriller that is hard to put down.

Hollywood, 1937. A beautiful young starlet is dead. The cops say suicide but her previous boyfriend Groucho Marx says it must be murder. Very cute easy to read mystery with lots of humor -- maybe a bit too much. 3 stars.

Good luck!
I really enjoy the series, too. I was so happy when a new publisher picked it up.
