I've watched the series (I love Alfred Molina). I read one of the books years ago. I'd love to read them all, but I'm steering away from book series.

Berger & Mitry #2, probably best to read #1 first. Mitch and Des get caught up in a small town redevelopment battle and now people are getting killed. Very likeable easy-going mystery. I like the series. 3 stars.

Bruce | 3119 comments I finished The Detective by Roderick Thorp by Roderick Thorp

The book was turned into a film of the same name with Frank Sinatra as Joe Leland. Thorp later wrote a sequel titled Nothing Lasts Forever. Sinatra was asked to reprise the role of Leland in a film based on it, but he turned it down. Changes were made to the script, and the detective’s name was changed to John McClane, played by Bruce Willis. The title was changed to Die Hard.

Ethical Chiang Mai Nurse/Detective #2 ...... Slow (very slow) gentle mystery taking place in a small city in Thailand. Not nearly as good as #1 in the series. More a travelogue about Thai food and social mores than a mystery. I figured out what was really going on about half way through. 2 stars.
