♪ Kim N (crossreactivity) | 9394 comments A new edition has been requested for a book already in the database. ISBN and cover are the same, but publishing dates are different. In addition, the publisher listed in the record is an imprint of the parent company. It's not an ACE situation, so would we create a new record in this case? I'm thinking not.

Javier (palchetti) | 30430 comments I agree, same cover and ISBN = no ACE.
I would change the publisher from the parent company to the more specific imprint at most.

Creating a new record just to change the publishing date doesn't make sense.

Indeed it doesn't.

The policy used to be to update (if necessary) the pub date to the earlier one, but that may have changed now that the info on Amazon is leading.
