OK, not a favourite but someone who has piqued my interest. As I commented on the Richard Osman discussion....

At the end of The Thursday Murder Club audiobook there is a discussion between Richard Osman and Marian Keyes. It was a delight and very illuminating.

It made me wonder what Marian Keyes's books are like. I'd mentally dismissed them as somewhat lightweight but having heard her in conversation now feel this might do her a disservice.

So-oooo Marian Keyes. What's your verdict?

I think Keyes started off writing anodyne chick lit but I think she's branched out since then and has tackled topics like depression, abusive relationships and so on in accessible ways.

Hester (inspiredbygrass) | 567 comments I read Rachel's Holiday back in the nineteen nineties which explored alcoholism at a time when few women were discussing it . More recently enjoyed Grown Ups . She's very good with dialogue and there's a warmth and humour in her writing that I enjoy.

I will certainly give one of her latter day novels a go and report back

Thanks again Hester
