So there's been loads of stuff going on in this story so far, I think there's a lot of different perspectives which I am enjoying at the moment and that's great because I tend to find that there's often only one or two that I like, but in this one I now have a fair amount of characters I've come to enjoy and some who we've seen grow over the series.

I think it's funny just how many character we have who started out with a completely different name and now we have so many who are renamed because of elements in their plot and so on.

I am particularly liking Kalam and Heuboric, Karsa and Onrack. All of them always intrigue me and there's SO much going on in this book with demons and craziness.

I feel like the last few books had more of a 'gods' influence whereas this one focuses a fair amount more on the demonic and ghostly aspects of the world. Pretty cool still, I don't know exactly why but this one I'm just enjoying a fair bit more than some of the others :)

There's a load I've not mentioned of course but I am looking forward to hearing all your thoughts on specifics, I wanted to just give a general overview of my feelings quickly :D

TS Chan (tschan) | 159 comments This time around it felt all too disconnected for me and I have no idea why. Not sure if it's because I was also undertaking my re-read of The Way of Kings at the same time. Everytime I read the Stormlight novels, something happens to me.. and when I finish, I feel so empty, like I've just left a part of me in that world and with my favourite characters.

Anyway back to House of Chains. I think this is about the time when I started to really like Pearl.. and I love the increasing appearance of Cotillion. Onrack and Trull Sengar is another unlikely pairing but a great one to read.

I could understand how that comparison might make you feel as though House of Chains was a bit disjointed. For me this one's actually working a bit better for me but I think that's more me getting to grips with who is who and what they are striving for etc :)

Michael (michaeldixon) | 60 comments I wouldn't say that I feel disjointed - yet. But I will admit that Erikson just left me behind a bit - the jade and Osseric stuff is baffling me. Not the first time Erikson left me in the dust, but I trust that he will kindly escort me to knowledge when he is ready. He is a peach that way.
