Sudoku Challenge:
It's been a while since we've done a fun challenge like a crossword or a word search. Almost two years! We figured the time has come to try something new. Not necessarily a word challenge, but a number one. It's time for some sudoku fun!

What is sudoku?
Sudoku is a logic-based, combinatorial number-placement puzzle. In classic Sudoku, the objective is to fill a 9 x 9 grid with digits so that each column, each row, and each of the nine 3 x 3 subgrids that compose the grid (also called "boxes", "blocks" or "regions") contains all of the digits from 1 to 9. The puzzle setter provides a partially completed grid, which for a well-posed puzzle has a single solution.

How to play:
Each team will be randomly assigned their own sudoku puzzle. This will be available to look at and fill out on their team's spreadsheet. Since this is a numbers challenge, below are some options on how you could fill out the puzzle:

Option 1: Page count
Such Pretty Flowers - could be used towards the following numbers - 3 or 2 (based on page count: 320)

Option 2: Publication Date (Month/Day/Year)
16 Ways to Break A Heart - could be used towards the following number - 7, 2, 5, 1, 3, 8, 4, (based on all the publication dates for this book)

Option 3: Series Position
Sorrow and Starlight - could be used towards the following number - 8 (based on being #8 in series)

Option 4: Number of words in title/series title
44 Cranberry Point - could be used towards the following numbers - 4, 3 or 2 (based 4 in title, 3 words in title or 2 words in series title)

Option 5: Number of Authors
Toil & Trouble: 15 Tales of Women & Witchcraft - could be used towards the following numbers - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9 (based on book having 15 authors for this book)

Option 6: Number of POV’s (First Person = 1, Dual = 2, 3+, etc.)

Option 7: Number in text (pg/% & quote)
**it must be spelled out - Chapter 9 or Page 9 will not be accepted

Any edition of the book can count. When a team completes a puzzle, they will get 50 bonus points. They will also get a new puzzle to solve.

Spreadsheets will be given to the teams by January 29th.

This challenge will only take place during the month of February. That means, books will be accepted from February 1st to February 29th. Winners will be announced on March 1st.

If you start a book before February, you will only be able to count the pages that you read in February for this challenge. If the page amount is over 100 pages, you can still count it towards a category.

When signing up, please mention the number of books you plan on reading for the month of February. This number will be easier for me to make teams match up a bit more evenly.

For example,

Alaina - 25 books
Andy - 15 books
Aly - 30 books

**You will not be penalized if you go over or under your number.**

Page Points
1 - 50 pages → 0.25 pts (will only count for page points)
51 - 99 pages → 0.5 pts (will only count for page points)
100 - 149 pages → 1 pt
150 - 249 pages → 2 pts
250 - 349 pages → 3 pts
350 - 449 pages → 4 pts
450 - 549 pages → 5 pts
550 - 649 pages → 6 pts
650 - 749 pages → 7 pts
750 - 849 pages → 8 pts
850 - 949 pages → 9 pts
950+ pages → 10 pts

*Buddy read points will double the page count.
*Reading and participating in the group book of the month will triple the page count
