2015 Reading Challenge [Closed] discussion

This is my choice for week 13. I bought this book when traveling a few years ago and haven't made time to read it yet. It takes place in Denmark.

I really enjoyed this book! I originally picked it up as reading material on a trip because it was basically the only English language book I came across. But the trip got busy and I didn't get to it, and the premise seemed less interesting once I was home. But I'm really glad I took the time to read it.

The writing was generally good, though at times awkward. But it was really interesting to read about the different cultures in Denmark and Afghanistan, and to see the two families come together. I can't imagine what it must be like to be a refugee and to have gone through the things Raihana and those like her had to suffer.
