It is NOT the Reacher series.
I think I read these about 7-10 years ago. The books were in current time.
It was later in the series that he bought the island. He also had a speed boat at one point, and was involved in stopping drug smuggling. I remember most of the settings were Miami or south Florida, at least toward the end.
Members of his team joined him on the island and they raised their own food and had a fish farm.
