Gentle Rogue (Malory-Anderson Family, #3) by Johanna Lindsey
Gentle Rogue by Johanna Lindsey

Join us in reading this HR that features the theme Assumed or Mistaken Identity!

Synopsis:
Heartsick and desperate to return home to America, Georgina Anderson boards the Maiden Anne disguised as a cabin boy, never dreaming she'll be forced into intimate servitude at the whim of the ship's irrepressible captain, James Mallory.

The black sheep of a proud and tempestuous family, the handsome ex-pirate once swore no woman alive could entice him into matrimony. But on the high seas his resolve will be weakened by an unrestrained passion and by the high-spirited beauty whose love of freedom and adventure rivals his own.

Happy reading!

Mariana | 2692 comments This synopsis makes me wary. I have a bad feeling I will not like a story where the heroine is "forced into intimate servitude", but maybe I will give it a try.

Yeah, it was published in 1990 so....yeah. Might be a bit 'old school'. I sometimes don't mind that, but I'm not usually a fan of pirate stories anyway, so I don't think I will join this BOTM read. Hope those who do read it enjoy it.

I'm planning to read The Shadow Earl BOTM. Not sure about the other one yet.

🐝 Shaz 🐝 | 1216 comments I will read this after 15 march as I am going away for a week before then, and will probably read book 1, and 2 first.

Jo Anne | 1 comments I read this when it 1st came out. It was great. When ever 1 of Johanna books come out, i would get it the same day. I love her books. We lost a great author when she passed. I read and kept every one of her books. Trying now to get them on kindle format. I'm going to have to pull this out of my box and re-read it for another upteenth time.

Lauren | 1374 comments This book isn't my favorite in the series, so I'll be skipping this BOTM read. I hope everybody enjoys this story!

Maureen | 189 comments This H is James Malory a Viscount 3rd of 4 brothers and my favourite character in the Malory / Anderson series. The h Georgana Anderson an American heiress is the youngest of 6 children and raised by her 5 older brothers. She is a Tom boy and head strong and sassy. From the beginning of their relationship she has intrigued James like no other woman before. This is a RomCom with lots of action including the Malory and Anderson families.

🐝 Shaz 🐝 | 1216 comments Reread of one of my favourite heroes. Chapter 13 start of the trip to the West Indies. Unbeknown to Georgina, James knows she is a girl and not a cabin boy.

🐝 Shaz 🐝 | 1216 comments Still liking James and Georgina story.
I do like the interaction between all the characters. especially James, Anthony and Georgina.
James was not impressed with Georgina brothers. And they were definitely not impressed with him.
Love the humour in this story.

🐝 Shaz 🐝 | 1216 comments Still one of my favourite. I have always enjoyed Johanna Lindsey Books. She keeps the pace of the story going. I like the interaction and humour with her characters.

Mariana | 2692 comments I already finished the other two books of the month. Since I still have time and this is available at the library, I decided to read this too. Not enjoying the characters thus far, but the writing is fun.

🐝 Shaz 🐝 | 1216 comments This is a series which is best read from the beginning. As all characters are present from book one. Which gives you a better understanding of the story and characters.

I am a present reading the full series for the second time. It is a favourite for me. James and Anthony are both favourites, love the relationship and banter between the brothers.

Mariana | 2692 comments That makes sense. There certainly are a lot of characters, and there must be more backstory on why they behave as they do.

Mariana | 2692 comments I finished and didn't enjoy it. I just keep thinking that James would have already died from syphilis, so the story never should have taken place. He also never redeemed himself to me. I can only imagine how many bastards he was unaware of since he never took precautions.
