Let me preface this by saying I am not talking about spam. I know we are not to post that we reported it. However, this question came about BECAUSE of some spam.
The other day there was a post that seemed like a book request. It had a link that I thought would be going to the book. Instead of doing that my virus shield immediately stopped it from loading.
This got me thinking about how we tell people we need a link to where to find the book they are wanting to add. Any of those could be the same type of attack. If my anti-virus protection hadn't been running, I would probably not have a working computer now.
Have any of the long-termers ever had an issue with viruses?
I don't connect using links to concealed targets such as those using a URL shortener. Since we can only use data from certain sources if it isn't one you know but looks like it may be legitimate you can google it.
