I started this series about a year ago, and found the first book REALLY hard for me to get through the first half, but it picked up for me and I’ve since had a lot of fun with the series.

I was the same, found the first book really hard to get into, just because of the whole "women are below men" and the main character Auren seemed so naive…
BUT
I am SO happy I persevered. Like I cannot express how good this series is. I get it now, the MC needed to experience different things. I am now on to the last book that was released at Christmas and the final book comes out in the summer: each book has gotten better than the last, so I am so excited.

I love the side characters, the plot, the development. Cannot recommend this series enough, it’s my top series from 2023, which surprises considering how unsure I was with book 1 Gild.

Persevere is what I say, because Glint, Gleam and Glow are SO good. And I’m super excited for golf and goldfinch this year! 🤩

Yeah, first book is rough from the main character suffering battered woman syndrome. But she grew out of it. And looking back, I like how the author handled it. We've seen Auren grow.

The first book was tough to read but it’s necessary. The next 3 are probably my favorite of all time. I’m super disappointed in Gold (5th book) but I’m still looking forward to the last book.

I’m in the middle of book three and I’m hooked!!!

Really struggled with this because of the romanticised abuse/misogyny. Still going to persevere and read the next ones but content wise struggled with this one.

Yeah it’s hard because she’s definitely a battered women character. She’s known nothing but that horrible man, and the series basically is her becoming her own person with the help of some friends and a very supportive male interest. It DOES stop tho and gets better. But it’s definitely something people need to be prepared to see before picking this up.

I didn’t love it, but it was decent enough for me to read the next installations… currently on glow now. I feel like majority of the interesting bits happen towards the later end of each book, unfortunately

I absolutely love this series and I’m so excited for the final book. I am obsessed with the growth of Auren. I feel like it’s so wonderful to see her come out of the situation that she was in and I honestly love how much she struggles because it made it more believable and relatable for me. I just absolutely loved it and Slade is one of my favorite book boyfriends. Like he’s honestly just like 🥵

I'm currently reading Gold and I've loved this series so far, it has its ups and downs, but overrall I really like Auren's character arc and I'm in loveee with Slade his character is so interesting as well.

I’m at the second book and I’m struggling to keep going, there is nothing that I can specifically say that bothers me or that I don’t like, but I feel like it’s going really slow, somebody help me find the motivation to keep reading 😂 I really liked the first one though

I struggled with the first book immensely, but really felt the series hit its stride by the 3rd book.

I love Auren’s character development, the world building is good and Slade is amazing 🥰 ❤️ so glad I persevered and I cannot wait for release of final book! 🥳

I really liked the series but the last book just didn't do it for me I felt like Auren deserved better

I found it so hard to get through the first book but absolutely LOVED it after that, so excited for the next book to come out in a month

I didn't enjoy Gild to be honest I can really remember how I continued with the rest of the series but I really enjoyed it after, I have the last two books to read yet but I'm holding off until the last one is released.

I’m also holding off till the last book comes out because I read the first three in like two or three days and bought the fourth one but it was like a few months before the fifth one came out so I was like I’ll just wait and then I found out that she was adding a book so I think I’m just gonna read the fourth one and wait to read the fifth one until the sixth one comes out

I started this book a few days ago but I’m already needing a break. It’s not drawing me in like I thought it would. My friend told me to get through the first three books and I would love it after that. Has that been the case with everyone else?

The first book was definitely a struggle for me, but after that I was hooked and really invested the characters and the plot!🥰🥰

I’ll keep trying! I’ve never DNF’d a book before so I really don’t want to start now😅
Glad to hear most people have had a similar experience with this series though.
