Drace (dracenines) | 7438 comments As usual when I post a question in this folder, this is kind of an odd one.

The novel Jumpnauts by Hao Jingfang is a Chinese sci-fi novel that is being published in English for the first time in March. Some editions of the book have the parenthetical "Folding Universe" in their title, and on the publisher's website, this is listed as the title of the series this book is/will be in.

However, there is only one other work in the Folding Universe series: a novelette called "Folding Beijing" that has been published as a book in China, but in the English language has only been included in an anthology and published in the sci-fi/fantasy magazine Uncanny Magazine. The page(s) for "Folding Beijing" are a complete mess of various different editions in languages that I don't speak (there isn't even a Goodreads page for the English publication of the novelette, and I'm not sure what the policy is for creating Goodreads pages for short fiction that's been anthologized but never published as a standalone), so I'm unsure how to request that the librarians handle this. Should a series page be created for the Folding Universe and applied to both Jumpnauts and "Folding Beijing", or should it be left alone?

Renske | 12220 comments If the novelette is isn't published as stand alone in English, then it shouldn't be listed on Goodreads in that way. Sometimes an anthology is added to a series page.

One novel plus one short work is enough for a series page if they meet the other criteria for a series on Goodreads.

Drace (dracenines) | 7438 comments Thanks for the help. Like I mentioned, the editions for the novelette are a mess (no original publication date, the Chinese-language edition's description is in Italian, it doesn't have a publisher or page count listed, and I'm not skilled enough to track down the Chinese publisher website to get them cleaned up), but I guess at the very least it can be added to the series.

Since the series currently consists of one novelette and one novel, what would the numbering for each one be?

Liralen | 8223 comments If the novelette takes place before the novel, it would be 0.5 and the novel would be 1.

If the novelette takes places after the novel, the novel would still be 1 but the novelette would be 1.5.
