Welcome to the first read-a-thon of 2024. The read-a-thon starts from when you wake up on Saturday, February 10 until when you go to sleep on Sunday, February 18, and the goal is to read as much as you can and to have tons of fun. Feel free to participate in as few or as many games and challenges as you like.

So let’s kick off this read-a-thon with some questions, and don’t forget to keep coming back to the Read-a-Thon folder throughout the week.

1. What are your goals for the read-a-thon?
2. Are there any books you're dying to start or finish?
3. Where will you be doing most of your reading?
4. Are you participating in the team challenge?
5. Is anything that's going to stand in the way of your reading this week? Let us cheer you on!
6. What are you most looking forward to with this read-a-thon?

1. What are your goals for the read-a-thon?
I don't have any real goals, but I'm off for the full week, so I'd like to prioritize reading over other things (like scrolling on my phone). Hoping to finish my two current reads and read 2-3 more after that.

2. Are there any books you're dying to start or finish?
My Book of the Month box just came in, so I hope to read at least one of those (Family Family and The Disappearance of Astrid Bricard - both fit the under 2024 ratings prompt). I also want to work on the last few books I have left for the Tournament of Books (finishing Blackouts, reading The Librarianist and a few others).

3. Where will you be doing most of your reading?
At home, on my couch, relaxing. Also some in the car while traveling a bit to celebrate Mardi Gras.

4. Are you participating in the team challenge?
Yep! Might have been a bit selfish and put myself on Krewe of Muses because it's my favorite (they decorate and throw high heels for their parade!)

5. Is anything that's going to stand in the way of your reading this week?
Well I have a toddler, and daycare is closed Monday and Tuesday. It's surprisingly difficult to read with a 15 month old at home.

6. What are you most looking forward to with this read-a-thon?
I'm not actually a huge fan of participating in Mardi Gras, but I'm having a lot of fun coming up with games and ideas for this theme.

Roxana (luminate) | 774 comments 1. What are your goals for the read-a-thon?
To open my ebook instead of twitter every time I mindlessly reach for it, lol. Numeric goal - I'd like to finish 6 books, including two I'm already in the middle of.

2. Are there any books you're dying to start or finish?
I'm trying not to jump into The Atlas Complex right now because it's kind of long for this sort of readathon, but, having just finished Paradox... I might not be able to resist. Otherwise, nothing i'm really dying to read, just a bunch of relatively intriguing options.

3. Where will you be doing most of your reading?
At home, curled up in my chair by the window.

4. Are you participating in the team challenge?
Yep!

5. Is anything that's going to stand in the way of your reading this week? Let us cheer you on!
A couple of family events and my own easily distracted attention span.

6. What are you most looking forward to with this read-a-thon?
Hearing what everyone else is reading and what they think about their books!

Bana AZ (anabana_a) | 836 comments 1. What are your goals for the read-a-thon?
- To finish the 3 books I'm currently reading

2. Are there any books you're dying to start or finish?
- Dying to start The Eye of the World but I want to finish the 3 books I'm currently reading first: Get a Life, Chloe Brown, Fourth Wing, and The Winners

3. Where will you be doing most of your reading?
- At home, probably. But if I really want to concentrate, I'll go to a coworking cafe.

4. Are you participating in the team challenge?
- No, just the individual

5. Is anything that's going to stand in the way of your reading this week? Let us cheer you on!
- My family? Lol. But nothing out of the usual.

6. What are you most looking forward to with this read-a-thon?
- The community, I guess. It's nice to know I'm not the only one who's trying to read as much as possible during this time.

Elizabeth (elizabeth1234561) | 224 comments 1. I'd really like to finish at least 5 books! I have a good mix of audiobooks and physical books checked out that I need to read.
2. Really excited to finish Obsidio this week since that will finish off the series!
3. At Home, probably in bed or while I do projects around the house.
4. yes!
5. MIL is up today and tomorrow so I try to keep the focus on family time but I still have some time to read at night and during the day so no biggy.
6. Just love using a readathon as a reason to kick it into gear.

message 8: by Jennifer W (new)

Jennifer W | 678 comments Haha, I totally forgot the read-a-thon started this morning!

1. What are your goals for the read-a-thon?
Just to read as much as possible

2. Are there any books you're dying to start or finish?
I just borrowed the audiobook of Burying Water and so far I'm really into it. I don't usually read romances, but for some reason, it called to me.
As always, I have lots of books going at once, so making significant progress in any of them is always nice, too.

3. Where will you be doing most of your reading?
Probably at home on the couch

4. Are you participating in the team challenge?
No, I don't read enough these days that I don't want to slow down a team.

5. Is anything that's going to stand in the way of your reading this week? Let us cheer you on!
I actually have a pretty free week, assuming nothing comes up (fingers crossed), so if I can focus on reading, I should do well.

6. What are you most looking forward to with this read-a-thon?
I think for once, the stars are aligned. I don't have anything to get in my way (except for myself!), I have a good reading mojo, and I have a few books going that are interesting!

message 9: by Kendra (new)

Kendra | 2101 comments 1. What are your goals for the read-a-thon?
My goals are generally 10+ books read, and at least 200 pages read per day.

2. Are there any books you're dying to start or finish?
I have a stack of graphic novels/manga from the library that are due soon that I'd like to actually read before I have to send them back. I know most of them won't count for anything other than pages read, but I still want to read them this week. I also really want to read The Goodbye Cat

3. Where will you be doing most of your reading?
Where ever. I'm the type of person that always has a book with her, just in case I have a few minutes to kill.

4. Are you participating in the team challenge?
Yep. Go Krewe Endymion!

5. Is anything that's going to stand in the way of your reading this week? Let us cheer you on!
After the last few weeks of stress, I'm looking forward to this read-a-thon to help me recover.

6. What are you most looking forward to with this read-a-thon?
I just want to relax and have fun.

4. Are you participating in the team challenge?

5. Is anything that's going to stand in the way of your reading this week? Let us cheer you on!
Working at my very part-time job.

6. What are you most looking forward to with this read-a-thon?
Working with my Krewe. Seeing what everyone is reading and adding to my TBR!

message 11: by Sophia (new)

Sophia (jonquilles) | 192 comments 1. What are your goals for the read-a-thon? At least four books is my average in previous read-a-thons so I always try to beat that.
2. Are there any books you're dying to start or finish?
3. Where will you be doing most of your reading? I'm a couch reader! I have a pull-out couch that doubles as a bed so I just lounge around with the tv on for music/sound and close proximity to the kitchen for tea and snacks.
4. Are you participating in the team challenge? Of course! Krewe of Endymion represent 🌙
5. Is anything that's going to stand in the way of your reading this week? Let us cheer you on! Nothing major, just a busy start on Saturday and then of course Valentine's.
6. What are you most looking forward to with this read-a-thon? Finishing prompts as a team is always so satisfying! I also impulse checked out a bunch of new stuff from the library today (I always think I'm going to be so quick, just in and out! And then it's an hour later and I don't know where the time went) so I'm excited to push through a bunch of stuff that I've had bookmarked for so long that I fully forgot why I wanted to read them in the first place.
