The Name of the Wind - The Kingkiller Chronicle # 1

@Ab...well past that part...and I agree about Elodin being a goofy genius in a totally loveable way (view spoiler)

@Deej, not seen too much of Fela yet...so will answer that when I have read a bit ahead and also...

The book could have been much more entertaining if not for Superman Kvothe

@Unk, but I love Superman Kvothe...why don't you like him?

I don't like him because he is good at everything. Hard to swallow. Especially in book 2
Why left out?

@Ani.... Unk = uncle.... you're Zaara's strict uncle.... :P

Why left out?"
I'm assuming this comment is for me? Unk is a who, not a what.
Ani...statutory warning...I'm a horrible person!
@Ab, @Deej, @lurkers, I have to go now, gnite.
@Vimal...where are you, macchci?

@Ab, it's funny you say that about LL (view spoiler)

Lemme Explain..
So LL, takes the puking herb, pukes his guts out, gives an impeccable impression of the Grayman in the meeting with Barsavi, gets beaten to pulp by Capa and his men who in..."
@Ab...yes...but (view spoiler)

Yea, I was having mild horrors...red seas is well written but a pale shadow of Bk One IMO. And Ab, I really have to go now...I wanted to buzz off half an hour ago...and then we got talking about LL and I had to come back and post...
Chal, bye. Let me try and eat up five more chapters of His Kvotheness...

(view spoiler)

Awww Ani...
The Superman theory doesn't fly with me...it's not Kvothe's fault,that's how his creator made him and it's the essence of who he is......"
Ha ha, I enjoyed this comment :D Poor Kvothe

Boooooo :-("
Haww... no! :O :P

ThulasiDaalam : I'll try that :):)

(view spoiler)

About Elodin: (don't read it till you've reached the end)
I totally like that man. In fact, he might actually tu..."
@Polo....understandable, really. Yesterday being yesterday ;-)
And like a silly ass I went and read your spoiler....but it's ok...I'm not too fussed, given (view spoiler)

Ha ha!! Why did I expect you would? XD
Where are you in the book now btw?"
@Polo, about 70% of the way through???I didn't read much more last night...and (view spoiler)

*shuts mouth*
But the same suspicion was on my mind too when I reached that part. *hi-5* :P

And I've noticed you're usually pretty generous with your star ratings...what was so bad about this read that it fell so far short of the rest of your bookshelf?

But the same suspicion was on my mind too when I reached that part. *hi-5* :P"
Hmmm...have you noticed how people either love this book or love to hate it??
And I'm gonna spend my lunch break reading...
It's gonna be awesome watching you and Utkarsh and Ani get going on your various fantasy reads. By the way, this is for you, Polo. Have you read Locke Lamora?

I am not generous about my ratings. I have read books only after going through various reviews. I was picky about books, But nowadays I am changing my reading habits.

@Utkarsh...I will say this once bébè...two As in Zaara ;-)
Zarra means something else I think...but my Hindi isn't that great.....
Psssst, blame your phone ka autocorrect...
And as I was just telling Polo....right now...she, I and Abster and (maybe) Machchi (that's Vimal) are the only ones who love the book.
You and Ani and almost all the others are in the majority....

Or else, most people are on polar opposite ends. And the best part of it, most of us hate and love the book for the same reasons.
And no, I haven't read Locke yet, its on my TBR. :)
What about you?
Speaking of which, I'll read Kingkiller #2 sometime in the coming months.. Let me know if you want to continue the series. :)
And yea, Ambrose....well, he deserves a swift one in the place where the sun don't shine...and I would wear boots while delivering it....
You know, I dunno why everyone finds the story so slow and the parts at the Uni lack pace etc...I'm loving it actually, the dip into day to day details of surviving at Uni...and how different it is for privileged kids like Ambrose (and Malfoy) vs. the experience that kids like Kvothe (and Ron) have. It's the same Uni but it's like two different worlds. and I'm actually liking the struggle Kvothe has to pay his fees each quarter...I mean yea, there aren't battles, bangs or flashes happening all the time, but it is still a journey, still a struggle, still a life lived in small pieces...term to term...
And sorry if the rambling annoys.... (hide spoiler)]
