(New/Debut) Authors vs. (Well-Known) Authors Challenge

Just like our Author vs Author, Disney vs. Pixar, and Marvel vs. DC challenges, we decided to do another 'March Madness Bracket' challenge again with authors.

One side of the bracket will only have categories for well-known authors and the other side will only contain categories for new/debut authors. At the beginning of this challenge, we will start with 16 authors on each side.

That being said, a lot is going to be happening during this challenge. In the beginning, you can read for any author’s category. So, for the first week you have about 32 authors to spread your books throughout. Each author will have about 6 tasks within it. However, you don’t have all of the categories throughout the entire challenge.

At the end of each week, authors will be eliminated. This will be based on points per author on each side. How would that look?

**Sorry it looks so small on the sign up, but each team's SS will have a bigger one!

For example,
- The first week would be 3/1/24 - 3/6/24. So, on the 7th, authors will drop from 16 on each side to 8 on each side.

- The second week would be 3/7/24 - 3/12/24. So, on the 13th, authors will drop from 8 on each side to 4 on each side.

- The third week would be 3/13/24 - 3/18/24. So, on the 19th, authors will drop from 4 on each side to 2 on each side.

- The fourth week would be 3/19/24 - 3/24/24. So, on the 25th, authors will drop from 2 on each side to 1 on each side.

- Then for the last seven days, 3/25/24 - 3/31/24, we will ONLY focus on the last two authors available. Meaning it will be a 1v1, Author vs. Author, ultimate author battle.

So, if an author vs. author looked like -

at the end of the week - then Kamilah Cole would be available to read for the next week. Bethany Baptiste would be knocked out of the challenge and the tasks are no longer readable.

What if the authors are tied at the end of the week?

Well, if an author vs. author looked like -

at the end of the week - then I would roll the dice (or flip a coin) to see which author would move to the next round. For this example, Bethany Baptiste won and has moved on to the next round. Kamilah Cole tasks are no longer available to read.

This challenge will only take place during the month of March. That means, books will be accepted from March 1st to March 31st. Winners will be announced on April 1st.

If you start a book before March, you will only be able to count the pages that you read in March for this challenge. If the page amount is over 100 pages, you can still count it towards a category.

When signing up, please mention the number of books you plan on reading for the month of March. This number will be easier for me to make teams match up a bit more evenly.

For example,
Alaina - 25 books
Andy - 15 books
Aly - 30 books

**You will not be penalized if you go over or under your number.**

The general challenge rules can be found here.

Page Points
1 - 50 pages → 0.25 pts (will only count for page points)
51 - 99 pages → 0.5 pts (will only count for page points)
100 - 149 pages → 1 pt
150 - 249 pages → 2 pts
250 - 349 pages → 3 pts
350 - 449 pages → 4 pts
450 - 549 pages → 5 pts
550 - 649 pages → 6 pts
650 - 749 pages → 7 pts
750 - 849 pages → 8 pts
850 - 949 pages → 9 pts
950+ pages → 10 pts

*Buddy read points will double the page count.
*Reading and participating in the group book of the month will triple the page count
