description

Got questions? Ask all your egg hunt questions here.

Q: Where will the eggs be hidden?
A: I will hide the eggs throughout HOB. I will NOT hide them in the Archives or the Collector's Corner. So all those pretty eggs from last year's egg hunt that Catsalive posted do not count. I know somebody will ask. LOL!

Q: When will the eggs be released & removed?
A: See the full schedule posted in message 2 on the signup page.

message 2: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2195 comments I see five eggs right here on message one of this thread. And the word egg 4 times above. Do they all count????!!!???

teehee

I have not done an egg hunt since childhood. Are the eggs on any thread throughout HOB? And are they pictures of eggs and not the word egg(s)?

message 3: by Donna, Curator of Challenge Terrors (last edited Feb 17, 2024 09:01PM) (new)

Donna (dkflynn33) | 7478 comments Mod
LOL! You are always a trip, Jenny. No, the eggs in this thread do not count and the word doesn't either. The eggs will be hidden throughout HOB except the Archives (I wouldn't be that mean!). They are actual pictures of eggs with tasks under them - it will be obvious. You probably have seen the last two years floating around. This will be the 3rd year of the egg hunt BUT the 1st year it is competitive.

Jenny | 2195 comments Thank you!
Does the winner receive a lovely breakfast of eggs Benedict at the Biltmore, or some such luxury resort? Just asking...

message 5: by Donna, Curator of Challenge Terrors (last edited Feb 17, 2024 09:16PM) (new)

Donna (dkflynn33) | 7478 comments Mod
LOL! I am not sure the Biltmore is close to everyone. Some people might not want to travel. I would have to make a prize like that contingent on where the winner lives and some of these people live overseas. Seems like a logistical nightmare. How about a nice badge, bookmark, or trading card?

message 6: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2195 comments Well, I do like seeing the pretty shiny badges and the like, but I don't collect those things, so I will make my own stellar breakfast tomorrow morning. For some reason I am craving eggs. Go figure.

Also, anyone who happens to be traveling to Phoenix, I will take them out for brunch at the Biltmore. I love that place.

Truitt_T | 1371 comments Hi Donna - happy March!

You probably said this somewhere, but how many eggs are being released in each batch?

Thanks!

HAHAHAHAHA - oh good glory - no wonder I thought I'd seen it somewhere!

Sorry, Donna - not enough sleep and caffeine.

message 11: by Truitt_T (new)

Truitt_T | 1371 comments And two more questions (I've had some caffeine, but not more sleep):

1. Are you going to be hiding eggs in individual or team threads?

2. Are you going to give us a chat thread? I ask, because otherwise I'll be cluttering up your Q&A whining about how I can't find Egg #4....

Thanks!

🐉 PrinZessBookDragon 👑🌶️ | 859 comments hi 👋🏽
can Ashley's Impossible Disney Challenge be added as a bonus please?? 🤭🤭

1. Eggs can be hidden anywhere EXCEPT the archives and the Collectors Corner. Those are the only hints I am giving you. Oh, and I removed all references to the word egg so you people can't just search the group for eggs (one of you taught me not to use that word in my posts). Good Luck!

2. I created the chat thread you requested BUT remember you can't tell each other where the eggs are located. The searching is part of the fun. If you are told where the eggs are then you are taking the fun out of the game.

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 3823 comments First-timer question...

Do the books have to be read for each batch before they are removed, or can we read them any time so long as we find the eggs within the set time?

Me and Earl and the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews - is this yellow or green? I was wondering if I can use this for a yellow cover? Tineye says both.

When I put it in tineye it said 83% yellow

It was different when I checked the first time. Anyway, I guess I can use it. Thanks Donna!

Anastasia (anastasiaruff) | 1809 comments Just wondering if we can delay entering the books on the spreadsheet. I have read the first book but can’t write on the spreadsheet with my iPad. Currently on a cruise that doesn’t get back until 19th March. I can add them all then if that is okay.

Not an issue. It will just look like you have no points early on but you will come from behind later. Surprise everyone when you pass them! LOL

Truitt_T | 1371 comments Donna -

May we move/change our books on the SS to maximize points?

I've got book I can use now, but I'm pretty sure I'll have something better, later.

Thanks!

Fine, but remember there are 62 eggs so don't be so focused on one task that you forget the rest.

Kat (bookworm2017) | 1486 comments I’m so confused by adding image. Is it a requirement to join in? As me and my fiancé can’t work it out.

message 39: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2195 comments Kat, you don't have to copy the image at all. It is just a way for players to keep track of the eggs they found.

If you find a purple egg, and one of the tasks is "read a book with a cover the color of the egg", then just keep track of the egg's appearance so you don't have to try to remember it. (Or go to another player's thread who copied the egg pics.)

And, you can use the egg you found this week later in the challenge.

(Donna, I happened to be here, I am not trying to answer for you!!! teehee)

You have the rest of the challenge to read for the egg that you found this week.

Alyana | 1928 comments Donna, I might have missed this rule somewhere. I have a book finished today but it does not match with any of the eggs released. Can I use that book if it matches the future eggs?

Donna (dkflynn33) | 7478 comments Mod
I saw this and was taking some time to decide and forgot to come back to it. Anyway, my decision is...

I will allow you to bank books that are finished AFTER the challenge has started. Any books completed before the challenge DO NOT COUNT. Then you may move books around to try to get the most points possible.

Thank you Donna. Yes I only have a couple of books read after this challenge started that I can use for the other eggs that were just released.

Kat, it has different options other than color. Try this link.
https://labs.tineye.com/color/

After you enter the link for the book cover and enter - you will want to go to the bottom of the color list and remove the check marks from the 2 "exclude" options.
