2015 Reading Challenge [Closed] discussion

The Harry Potter series consist of seven of my all time favorite books, and JK Rowling is an author that is very dear to my heart. I've never read any of her post-Potter stuff, so I thought i'd check it out for this week's reading category.

i've got this on my to-read list, im curious to see what you think because i've heard mixed reviews about it.

I liked it, but you really should go into it forgetting that it's written by J.K. Rowling. I think it's a good book on its own merits, but it's adult fiction, no fantasy elements at all, and some adult topics and language are used. It seems to me like a lot of the people that gave it bad reviews went into it expecting something completely different - something more like what she's previously written. It's a good book, but you shouldn't go into it expecting Harry Potter.

I totally agree with Kate, if JK Rowling wanted to distance herself of Harry Potter, she totally succeeded. It is utterly different, but a good book still.

I'm having a hard time getting through this. I feel like it is going sooooo slowwww. I will read 50 pages or so, put it down, read a whole other book, then come back to read 50 more pages. I just can't seem to commit to finishing it all at once.

I read it last year and it was difficult at the beginning specially because there are so many characters and all of them has an equally important role. So many differents stories, so many feeling they brought. I liked it, but it was difficult to get into the story.
