Trivia Whiz
Okay my man. So here was one question from last week which went unanswered (no help from the audience--mind, now!)
#1: What nifty suspense movie from 1972 had its entire cast earn Oscar nominations?
#1: What nifty suspense movie from 1972 had its entire cast earn Oscar nominations?
Nope. Its sort of a trick question. I can tell you the film was British and the nominations were all for 'Best Actor'.
That is definitely cheating yes...I'm disappointed in ye. Therefore, I will show you no mercy in this next batch. I am going to put th' bricks to ya.
Try these:
#2 name a dark-haired supporting actor who co-starred with Steve McQueen in three of his movies. name each film, as well.
#3 name any fellow British actor who starred with Sean Connery in two of his flicks. name the movies, too.
#4 name a red-haired actress who starred opposite Burt Lancaster in two of his color movies.
#5 name an actor who played a menacing villain opposite Roy Scheider in two of his films.

#6 During the filming of 'The Great Escape'; Charles Bronson met the wife of one of his co-stars in that movie. Immediate attraction bloomed; they began an affair, and she wound up divorcing her husband and leaving her kids for him. Who was that humiliated husband?
#6 Bonus question: what classic movie actress did the same thing in 1950 --leaving her husband for a famous director--and was reviled by the world press for doing so?

#7 What techno-thriller from the late 1960s features a character who hides an epileptic condition; but nonetheless suffers a seizure (triggered by a revolving strobe light) at the worst possible moment?

Try these:
name a dark-haired supporting acto..."
Robert Vaughn, The Magnificent Seven, Bullit and Towering Inferno.
Harry Andrews, The Hill, and The Battle of Britain.
Shelly Winters
Robert Shaw.
Wow good try on the McQueen question. I applaud you. At the same time, I can inform you that is not the actor I have in mind. But you've certainly impressed me and I'm going to use your answer to make this query even harder for some other victims in future.
Good also on the Connery puzzle (#2!) But again, wrong. Your answer's right but its not the man I'm thinking of.
Shelley Winters and Burt Lancaster? No. What makes you choose her?
Robert Shaw opposite Roy Scheider? Nooo. Name the movie because I sure don't know more than one film where they starred together.

On the McQueen question, there are a good number of actors who have been in 2 films with him, Ben Johnson, Slim Pickens, Simon Oakland, Jack Weston, Karl Malden...
I wonder who your thinking of with Connery, I wouldnt think it would be Q, thats to obvious and easy..
I know Malcolm McDowell Played the heavy in Blue Thunder.
Ladies and gentlemen..let me be perfectly frank.
The co-star for McQueen was in three of his films. What you say about Pickens and Johnson is very true. And well-observed. But ..three films? I think there's only one.
The actor I'm thinking of for Connery is one of my favorite British actors and very much neglected these days, he was surely gifted.

I'm thinking Michael Cain, Battle of Britian, and perhaps my favorite buddy/high adventure movie in The Man Who Would Be King.. course I'm most likely way offbase on this to....
Was Caine in 'Battle of Britain'? I'd forgotten all about that. If so, valid answer. Still not the one.

I reckon if I mentioned A Bridge to Far thats wrong as well..Caine played an armoured commander, and Connery the Para commander..

James Coburn!
The Magnificent Seven
Hell is for Heroes
The Great Escape

Damn I remember the scene but what movie, great guestion.
The guy I have in mind is strictly supporting cast, not a star of his own. I think he and McQueen became buddies and McQueen began putting him in his flicks as a 'favor to a friend'
Well he is dark haired. You shocked me with mention of Coburn. A wonderful red-herring I should have made use of.

Ha! You are a worthy combatant. Only a true pro would get this far with me. These days the only film people seem to know is damn 'Die Hard'. As if thrillers began there!

Double!
Here's an easy one
What actor gave wonderful reading to the line:
"Do you wanna make THE LIST, pops?"
The character in this film was 'the original' kook who kept a list of 'people he was gonna get even with someday'. Haw!

Yes! You got the bonus question. Good job!
That scandal was painful and longlasting. The next one to replace it was at least 10 years later...Burton/Taylor. That was probably the biggest worldwide entertainment scandal in history. I wasnt around at the time but I believe what critics say about it: anyone who thinks 'today's stars are big' simply have no idea. Burton/Taylor was international front page news all around the world for weeks, months.

Which reminds me of this question
#8 What then-well-known British actor appeared in supporting roles in both of the hit movies adapted from Frederick Forsyth's 'The Day of the Jackal' and John LeCarre's 'The Spy Who Came in from the Cold'?

Perhaps Edward Fox..
No, he's the lead in 'Jackal' but not found in the cast of 'Cold'. He would have been a mere stripling at the time.
Can't believe you're stumped on the McQueen question. You named every one BUT the guy I have in mind
need a clue?
