Jen Mays | 363 comments The competitive world of professional ballet takes center stage in this fictional tale of a school designed to groom the best of the best in preparation for joining a professional company as adult dancers. The story unfolds primarily through the lens of three of the students: Bette, the quintessential ballerina type who has long been the star of the school; Gigi, the new student from California who is making waves because she's tarnishing Bette's shine (and is black); and June, the Korean dancer who is always on the outside looking in.

This is a somewhat entertaining, very petty teen drama that is too long by about 100 pages and leaves a lot unresolved, presumably because it's a series and they want you to come back to future volumes to learn all of the secrets. The problem with this is that by the time I got to the end, I was so tired of all of them that I'm not sure I care anymore.
