Buddy Read with Elisabeth Paige discussion

I've really been enjoying it so far! There's not a ton going on and the love triangle (square?) is annoying me a little but it's not horrible. I'm really hoping this series doesn't turn out like The Selection.

Is it just me or did the book start off strong and just fade as the chapters went on? I was really loving it and now I feel like I'm dragging myself to read it. Not sure if it's the love triangle going on between cal and maven or if it's what's going on with the rebellion but I feel almost blah about it.... Ugh I really hope it gets better.

I feel like the book has slowed down some but I think there is still a lot of information that we are learning and will be good for the end of the book. I'm not really seeing a love triangle or square between Mare and the boys. The only one I feel she might have feelings for is Cal. I'm not really liking the scarlet guard much right now. But I'll see for the rest of the book.

I'm not really getting much of this "love triangle" that's supposed to be going on...

I thought I was crazy when I saw this more as a love square than a triangle. But after seeing everyone else's comments, I know I'm not crazy haha. But I actually feel like the one she truly has feelings for at this point is Kilorn. I mean she insinuated earlier that she would've married him if this hadn't happened. And just the dynamic between them in this section has seemed so much more then friendship. Idk who I like best though. I actually think all the guys are really strong characters.

I must be one of the few that thought it actually picked up as it went on instead of slowing down! I was way more interested in this set of chapters than the first. I'm still flying through the chapters (when I actually have time to sit down and read). I'm just really intrigued by everything and I'm interested to see how it all pans out.

The only thing I'm pissed about is I was flipping to the end to see how many pages the book had, and I glanced up and saw the last page and kind of spoiled myself -_- grrrrr.

I don't really see anything of a 'love square'. You can care about someone without being romantically interested in them, but I do hope that something comes of Mare and Cal because his fiancé (?) really annoys me right now haha. I want more explanation about the rebellion but other than that I'm really into this book! Hoping to get it finished in time!!

This section didn't really pick up or slow down for me; it seemed about the same pace. Which I'm fine with, I'm still really enjoying this. I see more of a love triangle than a square, but even then I'm not quite sure I would consider Mare's feelings for Maven romantic. I think those feelings may be one sided on Maven's part.

You can definitely tell she has feelings for Cal. And personally, I'm not sure I'm a huge fan of Kilorn. I understand he doesn't think she needs to protect him anymore, but his reaction to her ability kind of bothered me. Like, way to be supportive dude.

As far as the Guard is concerned, as of right now, I'm not entirely sure I like them. I'm not sure they're trustworthy, but I'm excited to see where they go from here.
