I love the old private eye feel to the novel.

I just may finish this in a day! It is awesome so far, it's got that whole hard-boiled gumshoe crime noir thing going on!!!! It is bloody fantastic!!!!!!! Although it's almost making me want to take up smoking again....

Maybe I'll quit smoking too so we can both take it up again together.

I have a Dr appointment later so this will be my waiting room material.

Looking forward to your comments sir. If your waiting time is anything close to what it takes for my doctor, you may read in one sitting.

I have the book, and hope to start it by the weekend to join in. :)

The Chelsea Hotel has been mentioned twice in the book now, and iI got stuck with the Leonard Cohen song Chelsea Hotel #2 in my head. I decided to play his album New Skin for the Old Ceremony while reading, and have to say that it is the perfect soundtrack for this book. IMHO

And again! It's just amazing :D I only knew this song as Lana Del Rey's... had no idea it's just a cover. Embarrassing, really..:)
I'm at the very beginning now, so I don't know if the song is a perfect match for this book, but I already have this feeling like this book is ending way too fast :) Yeah, "Pines" will have to wait :)

If memory serves me well, he wrote the song about a night he had with Joplin in the famous hotel. But the full album I found went well with my reading. Cohen is not for everyone though...

I've had an unexpected wealth of reading time the last couple of days, and I'm actually at about 70%. Definitely a great book - I've always been fascinated by voodoo!

I think my favorite line so far has been "He played drums like 2 jackhammers f***ing". :-)

I haven't started this yet, but plan to...maybe tonight. I've had a lot of distractions lately...lol but I'll get there.

I loved it. Somewhere between 4 and 5 stars. Excellent pacing. I was planning to watch the DVD again today but it is scratched beyond playability. Bummer. I'll swap it for another copy at the library tomorrow.
