{ rosina } | 4 comments I absolutely am an audiobook defender. I've never heard an argument against audiobooks that isn't elitist and snobby. Plus, oral storytelling has been the favoured method of storytelling in so many different cultures for centuries, millennia even; it's eurocentric to say that the written form of language is the only acceptable version.

I agree that audiobooks are great. Listening to audiobooks allows you to "read" while doing other tasks. Also, many people have to use audiobooks for a wide variety of reasons such as being blind, visually impaired, or having dyslexia as a few examples.

Faye Anne I suffer from chronic migraines and so audiobooks are a lifesaver and a total boredom buster when I'm just laid in bed in the dark unable to do anything else. Since this started about 4 months ago, I've really fallen in love with audiobooks. Even when I don't have a migraine I love them - they're convenient, you can multitask, and some books are definitely enhanced by the audiobook format.

Yes, I consider them as "read" books. I am dyslexic and audiobooks allow me to complete books at a pace that is good for me, but not have to reread it eight times to understand it.

R.S. Merritt | 147 comments Great for traveling! I'm curious how people who listen to a lot of them like the new "AI" voices.

Emi Porter | 1 comments Love audiobooks, its normally a book I can listen to while kids are in car, unless they are asleep. My mum uses them as she cant read, as gets massive migraines. So usually still her audible account as in to the same books... kinda. She is currently listening to the ACOTAR series... I was not a fan! please no hate.

My husband laughs and tell me when I finish an audiobook, I can't count it as I haven't actually read it... he normally gets the middle finger thrown at him, but at the same time, enjoys listening to them when in the car with me LOL
Its actually helped my son get into books as he listen to them on alexa and sometimes we parallel read. So we will look at the physical copy while listening to the audio, if that makes sense.

Kendall v Mead | 67 comments I love audiobooks. I don’t listen to them often but I enjoy them when I’m cleaning and not in the mood for music. I often pick ones I don’t have to be tuned into all the time because then I don’t have to worry about not getting distracted but I think they’re a fun way to read.

Sarah E B (saraheb2011) | 11 comments I love them. I grew up reading along with them (it was a rule thing that was set whenever I listened to an audiobook, which I hated doing because it was difficult for me to read when I was a kid) because I have a minor case of dyslexia, which I didn't know until I couple of years ago. I also like it as background noise whenever I'm doing than it's not reading. Now it is a habit that i read alongside a book
