Our April NF read is Cleopatra: A Life by Stacy Schiff. This might be a good pick for anyone who enjoys history or biographies. Cleopatra ruled ancient Egypt over 2,000 years ago. The author of this biography won the Pulitzer Prize for biography o0r autobiography for Vera in 2000.

Chad | 860 comments I have a physical hardcover copy of this book that I bought a year or two ago at a used bookstore and never read, so I’m definitely in.

Chad | 860 comments I just started this. The 10 page introductory chapter is engaging and very welcoming. She really just breaks down the time period we are working with and admitting/explaining to the reader what little recorded information we actually have about this fascinating woman. I’m already certain that I like this.

Melanie Anton | 463 comments I started reading the Schiff book years ago and didn’t make it very far. I thought it was too slangy. A friend read it and she loved it.

Chad | 860 comments Tough crowd lol. I’m about 80 pages in and I like it. I think It’s a well written explanation of why we know the name “Cleopatra” today. We don’t know all that much about her but we know a fair amount about what happened while she was in the room. And she was in the room a lot.

Chad, no worries! Different books are good fits for different readers. I'm glad you're enjoying the biography so far.
